$50 Project Volvo 740 is BACK! - Front end Bushings and Wash

The $50 Volvo 740 is finally back! In this one I´m replacing very worn out rubber bushings in the front end that is very common to go bad on these Volvos. I also give it the first maintenance wash since the paint correction.

vad skönt och se nån som faktiskt fortfarande bryr sig om gamla 740s och tar hand om dem, har införskaffat mig en riktigt äcklig rollad inhoppad/insupen 745 som ska få mycket kärlek och då är det riktigt bra att kunna titta och lära sig av dig! :)

Volvo changed the design of that rear radius arm bolt at some point, you can swap in the updated ones I think they got rid of the Torx and switched to a regular bolt and nut with captive washer.

I have a 1988 Volvo 760 Turbo, from what I can see the 760, has what they call Multilink,Suspension which uses a series of bushings.

As to the bushings,in the rear,which ones ate replaced, I have a 1988 760 Turbo and it has the multi link suspension in the back

I have V70R thats been sitting under trees its whole life... Its disgusting and I dont even know how to start trying to rescue that paint.. Any great ideas on getting sunburnt tree sap off black car? :D

You have nice car there to rescue! Yes, I would suggest an alkaline degreaser/pre wash. However I've noticed that these types of degreasers for automotive paint are not very common outside of Sweden.. Look for a powerfull, stripping snow foam with a PH value > 7. And let it soak in multiple passes with that. Don't let it dry on the surface! Then rinse with a power washer. Follow this with a proper contact wash, use a microfiber mit. Then I'd suggest claying the car as there will probably be ingrained contaminates that will only come off with the use of a clay bar. End it all with some polishing (optional) and a layer of wax/sealant😊👍

De är inte justerbara, däremot är det inte säkert att allt ligger lika efter man har varit i framvagnen och hållt på, så det kan vara en god ide att kolla så att allt stämmer ändå. 😊 Jag gör ingen framvagnsinställning bara av en sån här grej, däremot borde jag verkligen göra det med tanke på att jag bytt yttre och inre styrled!

Thank you. :) In really bad conditions with a lot of salt and slushy snow not so long, maybe a couple of weeks. In better, drier conditions it can last very long. Up to a couple of months. 👍

There actually is lowering springs on it already (can be seen in episode 4). But the front didn't get low enough, should have gone with 60/40 instead of the 40/40 I went with. :/

Volvo byggde bra bilar från 1927 fram till sista fyrkantiga S-V-70 årsmodell 2000. Nu har dom bara låsta datorer och ingen oljesticka till motorn eller automatlådeoljan.
