Ek Dana Ni Vaat

The tangaliya weavers of Saurashtra, Gujarat express their lives and aspirations through this 700 year old weaving technique. Cultural practices, religious beliefs and markers of modernity are encapsulated in the motifs and colours of their designs. This films documents the processes of this valuable skill practiced by the Dangasia community within which an intricate fabric takes shape.
This film, directed by Prachee Bajania, was made as part of the Sahapedia Film Fellowship 2020, which is supported by H.T Parekh Foundation.
