मुझे याद हैं वे दिन, जब यह हाथी पू. मुक्तानन्द बाबाजी के 'सिद्धयोग आश्रम' (गावदेवी, गणेशपुरी) में लाया गया था। पू. बाबाजी ने उस हाथी को "स्वामी विजयानन्द" नाम दिया था। वे कहते थे कि पिछले जन्म में उसने बड़ा तप किया था, लेकिन किसी कारणवश तपभ्रष्ट होने पर इस बार हाथी के रूप में आश्रम में आया है। आश्रम के लिए हाथी पसंद करना था तो और भी हाथियों को देखा गया था, लेकिन जब इस हाथी को देखने गए तो उसने डोलते हुए ऐसी आनन्द-भरी प्रतिक्रिया दिखाई कि प्रमाण मिल गया कि उस हाथी ने आश्रम के लिए ही जन्म लिया है। उन दिनों मेरे पिताजी भी आश्रम में थे। एक दिन पू. बाबाजी हाथी के साथ चले आ रहे थे, तभी पिताजी भी सामने से आ रहे थे। पू. बाबाजी पिताजी का आदर करते थे, अतः उन्होंने 'स्वामी विजयानन्द' से कहा, "इन्हें सलाम करो।" और हाथी ने आदेश का पालन करते हुए अपनी सूंड को ऊँचा उठा कर अपने मस्तक से लगा कर सलाम अदा किया। आज इस विडियो को देखकर उन अविस्मरणीय एवं धन्य दिनों की स्मृति हो आई। सद्गुरुनाथ महाराज की जय!

Brings back so many memories. From the time of my birth in 1968 to his demise when i was an adolescent this was part of my life. Spent so many childhood summer holidays there. Waking up at 4 am rushing for prayers, working in the kitchens,prasad service,wandering among the fruit trees(mangoes,jamun,waterapples and many more), peafowl, spotted deer, all the sculptures small and large of scenes from the epics, saints and sages. Standing for hours and just staring at Viju swaying in his enclosure,breathing in his scent, listening his gentle breathing and trumpeting, making friends with the mahout. Watching Baba on occasions feed him giant candy bars,huge laddus, smear perfume oils on his body. All these are imprinted in my brain forever. I wish my children could have experienced the same, but that boat has sailed i guess. Sadgurunath Maharaj ki Jai!

The darshan line ends eventually. Surprising so many minutes of a silent crowd sharing his stillness. Unfawning seriousness of sadhana, studying Gurubhava, studying our Example. Surprising how a whole crowd could be rapt, unmoving, for so long; surprising how he stayed with us for so long; surprising how the message was that the message is communicated as silence, surprising.
