What Bollywood did wrong and Hollywood did right about serial killers are, real serial killers in most cases are very normal average looking people, very trustworthy looking face, and a humble person in the eye of the society. Not some macho bad guy looks and violence reputation.

I still remember, when I was kid and watched that movie of ashutosh rana sir, I was not able to sleep properly for months and for years I thought that he is actually a villain and a psycho. After that i saw few of his interviews and got to know that he is such an amazing person. His acting skills are just on another level
