Ekaterina Maximova - Solo to a Mazurka by Alexander Scriabin

This is footage of Bolshoi legend Ekaterina Maximova performing a solo to a mazurka by Russian composer Alexander Scriabin.
Maximova seems so fresh and young and lovely ... I saw her at about the time of this film, guesting with her husband Vladimir Vassiliev in 'Giselle' at the Palais Garnier in Paris as a kid -- one of my all-time favourite ballet experiences.
Reina Nakamura very kindly identified the Scriabin piece as his Mazurka op 10 no.6

She was unique, a joy to behold. I saw her with her husband in 1967 and once again years later. She made an indelible impression which I shall never forget.

yes, they were wonderful - i remember the first time i saw them on stage was on a visit to Paris - it was 'Giselle' and i was totally bowled over (and bawled) by Act2 - something never forgotten. :)

hi Lily R very lucky indeed - we flew to Paris especially for this Bolshoi touring Giselle - Vasiliev was the Albrecht - i was a kid and don't know if the corp was French or the whole company Russian.
