He was unstopptable, if he took more shots, could've avged more. He was so ahead of his time. Shot 3, super atheletic, got handle.

@OhLong Johnson Look at his three point stats with the Sonics and with the Hawks.. He was similar to Blake Griffin.. Mainly a dunker in his prime, and a complete player later.
@mbell74983 жыл бұрын
@OhLong Johnson Karl Malone was always the same, he never changed. Kemp had different phases.. Even Jordan had different phases: super athlete in his prime, and a great shooter later. I don't mean it in a bad way.

0:09 That was one of the things I didn't understand about Kemp. He took shots like that a lot. I mean if you're going to shoot if from that far, you might as well get the most points for it.

The end of the game interview tells it all in this video.(thanks for the post) It’s not like Shawn didn’t have the Coaching and guidance. Kemp knew what he needed to do to win and be considered a first ballot Hall of Famer. I would have loved to see Kemp go for at least 30 FGA’s a game. If only there was a #StanleySugerman like in the movie Hustle… the drugs and the women may not have been as much a factor in not seeing Kemp fully reach his potential. Kemp had it all going for him at this stage: Mid range, post moves, court vision… the hop and bounce was still peaking.

I talked to Shawn at his restaurant in Lower Queen Anne in 2011. I asked him about this. He said he significantly increased his efficiency by staying inside the 3 even if it was a short amount
@darshloaf2 жыл бұрын
Part of it was coaches basically used to tell bigs not to shoot 3's if possible. Mostly though, players had weird sweet spots sometimes. Kobe used to shoot a fair amt of long 2's.

@@Kai_doy28 Definitely. This was prime SK. He came in so young, by this time he had been in the league 7-8yrs, but still was only 26-27. I grew up a Sonics fan, and was hard to watch him being traded to CLE. I still followed him in CLE, but not like I did in years past. He was a player who needed the game, the structure of it all. If that lockout hadn't gone down, I think it's fairly safe to say he's ALL STAR material in CLE for atleast another 4-5yrs. That wasn't much of a squad around him, so a ring would have been questionable. I think hes HOF worthy as is. Had his issues, but never shyed away from them, took ownership of them atleast. He was the most exciting player in the NBA for my $ from 92-98. Cheers.

When Kemp was a Cavalier they beat the bulls 8 to 3 lol
@coreyrowe16275 жыл бұрын
You do have to keep in mind that most of that 8-3 record came after the bulls dismantled their dynasty after finishing the 2nd 3-peat in 1998. They were 2-2 vs the bulls in the 1997-1998 (the only year the bulls resembled a real team while kemp was in Cleveland)
