Today,we have AZONTO from Ga. We have COCOA from Ga nyobi TETTEH KWARSHIE. Our Scholars and eminent men and women including DEDEI ASHKINSHAN & AADUA ANKRAH welcomed and backed Dr Kwame Nkrumah whosee Parliamentary seat was not in Nkroful in Nzima land but ASEIDU KƐTƐKƐ, GA MASHIE. You do not know that the African Brothers went to London in 1969 way before the Wulomei first trip in the mid 70's. Prior to these groups, African Brothers and Wulomei Cultural Group, it was alleged that King Bruce and E.T Mensah had been abroad, however, I couldn't confirm nor state if true, which band first toured abroad.

The current version of Afrobeat that we hear today (worldwide) and through Azonto is based on Kpanlogo and other forms of Ga Adangme (Ethnic group from the Southern Coast of Ghana) music. Just listen to your favorite Afrobeat song and you'll hear most of the bass line, drums, and the infamous Gankogui being used in this live performance. 8 out of 10 Afrobeats songs use this handheld bell instrument with most of it going simply "ka.ka.ka.kaka" (Clave 3-2) but it enhances the rhythm to a very high level.

Can’t stop listening to this band over and over, great recollections. First watch them in live concert 1995 at independent square. The Sound was huge, the then Nii Tei Ashite, founder of the group was present, he’s often forgotten that he was huge pillar to the band. Long live WULOMEI…xxxx

Waaaaaawwww... I love the Wulomei and their music. I understand the Ga language considerably but sadly, I do not hear most of the words in their music well. I think Ghanaians and the world would be blessed if someone close to Naa Amanoa can get her to reveal the actual lyrics of their music so they are compiled in a book. We would love to be able to understand the true meaning of the songs.
