These kids are SO good. When they aren't playing they sit there so poe-faced, but when they play they literally spring into life! The percussionists dance while they play, and the clarinets keep doing Mexican Waves! So great to watch. AND beautiful to listen to. Well done.

I guarantee you the clarinets planned all those movements. They’re clarinets.

I play tuba in a concert band and on a good night we get twenty players. We have no oboes, trombones or bassoons, I would love to play in a band like this well done to them all.

So hard to play this! Well, considering I'm not a professional musician it sure will be... Good job! The fades and upcomings were great... Love the sound of the oboe! Sorry my english, from Brazil.

3:01 Either the camera went, "Darn it let's make the surroundings move." or they are actually playing so hard that they are burning and forming themselves to kind of distort themselves. (when there's fire if you see properly above the fire it will move and wriggle)

They are good, the one thing that is bothering me is that when showing musicality, they move together in the same direction, like they're mimicking each other. I believe that they should have individual expression, but this is just my opinion.

That's simply how they were taught, especially with the same teacher. In Japan, I'm sure there is a bit of musician choreography involved. Musically? It is extraordinary.

+MemoriesPortrait Have you noticed it's just the clarinets doing that? I think that's just what the clarinets want to do, lol. I've noticed this in a lot of japanese clarinet sections.

This is a result of their training- it is to emphasize the movement in the music- in Japan students are trained in all areas . This would include seating and stance , holding of instrument , correct embouchure , positon to the music stand. communicating with the conductor and balancing within the section. There is nothing left unschooled or left for chance. It is the Japanese way in all things. This is an excellent well balanced and extremely musical band -great credit to their conductor and instructors . Not as finished as ,possibly, the Seika or Tamana Girls ensembles but for their great size they are amazing and they play Reed's music with conviction and passion.

the clarinet section exaggerates this choreography more than the others.. it's probably an OCD clairnet gene... we're so happy to have the technique it sorta makes it more fun to choreograph movements :) the other sections move but not as in tandem as the clarinets... just my observation....

@@chriskeck147 The sway also helps with the clarinets' intonation. and it also gives visual appeal. I like it. Coming from a brass player.
