I always get sweaty hands watching stuff like this. I think these climbers are at the top of for ranking of all around athletes, by a long way.
@Zerpersande2 жыл бұрын
All around athlete??? So you think that they are at high levels in many/most other sports? Myself, I think that there’s a vast difference between what these climbers do and other athletic ventures. I love golf. I’m not great. Have made par twice but never broken it. But the thing is, other than maybe hearing thunder rather nearby, I have never felt in danger at any time. Now, what Alex Honnold did? That may be the greatest athletic achievement in the history of humans playing sports.

@@Zerpersande this is incredibly hard to read lol
@Zerpersande2 жыл бұрын
@@NorthernBuffalo If…I…write…slowly…will..that…help? Let me explain. “So you think that they are at high levels in most/many other sports?” Which means that I disagree that they are in the top rank of all round athletes. Why? To me it is obvious. There is no evidence to support such. Do they play golf, tennis, basketball, soccer, volleyball, or badminton at high levels? Do they perform at high levels in activities such as track and field, snow skiing, and archery? tWHY would such be believed without any supporting evidence of such? Want an all-around athlete? Bruce Jenner aka Kaitlin. There is a propensity to use superlatives these days when said use has no basis in reality. People literally do not understand when they can use the word ‘literally’. So rather than say that these climbers demonstrate athletic skills that rival the skills of top athletes in other sports a comment is made that turns them into the best of all round athletes. What they DO have that others don’t is the ability to psychologically deal with the very real possibility that they may DIE while participating in their sport. They don’t even have to make any other mistake than to be on the mountain when a slab of concrete the size of a football field decides it’s time to stop resisting gravity. I went rock climbing most weekends throughout my college years almost 50 years ago. But I never even considered taking on something like what was in this clip. The first ascent of The Nose was done my junior year of college. Amazing feat of athleticism, but if you take a look at the guys who did it you would be hard pressed to say that they were the best all round athletes of the time. You? You apparently think that because you can string together six words into a sentence lacking any punctuation and follow it up with an overused acronym that is itself false exaggeration that you’ve ‘expressed yourself’. If you find my comment difficult to read start paying more attention in your English class.
