Huaypo lake is located northwest of the department of Cusco, in the peasant community of Eqqecco, and west of the town of Chinchero. It is located in a wide plateau, to 3,507 above sea level, surrounded by the snowy Salcantay, Veronica and Soray.

Huaypo is a lagoon of crystalline waters that has a length of approximately 1.5 kilometers. It houses large numbers of fish and is a habitat for migratory birds between the months of September and December.
This lake is located 44 kilometers from the city of Cusco. Access by a paved road.
