This week I visit El Nido and return to Tapik Beach in Sibaltan. Two different worlds if you ask me ;) Though the surroundings of El Nido are very beautiful (like small and big lagoon as I’ve shown in my last video) there is also a lot of tourists. If you want the best of both worlds: stay in Sibaltan (Tapik beach has my heart, but there are more places here) and go island hopping in El Nido during the day. That’d be my choice ;)

We arrive in El Nido late in the evening. And honestly, the town is even more busy than I remembered! It’s not grown in 2 years, it’s exploded. They even got an ATM nowadays! New hotels and restaurants are opening every week, literally. And still it might be worth it to book a room long before your trip. Especially in high season. As I said, it is busy here…
The canopy walk provides some of the best views on El Nido town. It get’s me in the mood for more adventure. Now let me ask you, can you visit the Philippines without a proper Zipline Experience?! It’s time for Las Cabanas.
Alright, I understand why there are so many ziplines in the Philippines. It’s great to fly like an eagle, with some amazing views at the same time!
It’s best to be combined with some beach time afterwards.
And then we’re up for the main reason to visit El Nido! Island hopping. Since I’ve seen small and big lagoon and the popular tour C can’t take place because of the weather, I am going for tour B. Known for it’s caves and coves.
There are always multiple boats going on the same tour you are. But if you’re lucky and your boat just waits to leave, you can experience the island like it’s all yours.
And we’re on our way again. Off to Cathedral cave and Pinasil island.
Pinasil island is one of the most beautiful, but also one of the most cosy islands on this tour.
Well the highlight of this place is hidden behind a small hole. Just a whole different world from the white sand and blue seas…
One of our last stops is the famous snake island. Which got it’s name for an obvious reason
YES! I am so excited for getting back to Tapik Beach! That little hidden gem we enjoyed so much last time we visited. It’s so relaxed in here.
Well they did develop the place in the past 2 years. More rooms have been build and there is a whole extra space for entertainment. And the biggest improvement: it’s much more easy to go to El Nido nowadays! Which makes it possible to go island hopping during the day, and enjoy your evenings here.
Also the neighbors have been growing along. But it’s still within it’s limits. All in all it’s very peaceful and quiet. Also in the village!
Since Randy is not managing Tapik anymore, Merichelle, the little girl I met, isn’t here. I was hoping to see her back, so let’s see if we can find her in town. They say I might find them close to the basketball court….
Well sometimes you win, sometimes you lose!
Let’s comfort ourselves with a game of local pool, and get ready to explore more of the surroundings!
Nacpan Beach makes up for a great daytrip from Tapik Beach or El Nido. My luck hasn’t come back to me yet, so we’re unable to see the twin beaches today. But hey, everything else is here!

This took me courage to reply. I love you since I found your channel when you first went to the Philippines I'm the silent fan and I believed I was always the first to watch all your post when you went the second time. This time I was evan anticipating that you will visit that little girl. I felt bad that you weren't able to see her.. that would have been one of the greatest moment in your journey. Also, I was compelled to write as it was a missed opportunity due to a miscommunication.. that lady said "mamaya" meaning that she or they will come or arrived later in the day. Anyways, to me you are one of the best youtuber out there, I had the chance of the travelling most of the Philippines and now conquering the other of the world. You are very creative, your work is very cinematographic with soothing narrative voice and good story content which is very easy on the eye and ears. I could say more however to be short you are a gift that people willnget inspired of. Keep it up. Spread the good vibes and share hapiness. Always be following you or maybe someday will meet you. Happy trip! With love from your avid fan. "reacpt"

Thank you so much Reacpt! I appreciate it you reach out to me, and love to hear from you after you've been watching for a long time :) I know some people react always, and there must be some who watch but never say something. I do that with some of my favorite KZbinrs. Though it is so nice to feel there are people out there enjoying, even when you do not hear them immediately :) Yes, I understand.... damn, I was so convinced they were gone and not coming back anywhere soon. I was hoping to find her back to, curious how she had grown in 2 years time. I really liked her. But who knows, one day :)

I grew up travelling all over Ph since my parents live on different islands. I was blessed to be able to experience such however a change in life and career path led me to shun and shy away from my love to showcase my country which at that time nobody ever thought that was possible. I wish I still have all my negatives that I took since I first got my 110 camera film, polariod and old school SLR. Anyways, you are one of those that help me fulfill my dreams of seeing the world and I say thank you for that.I may not be able to go all the places you have been but I felt like I've seen at least a glimpse of it through you. There were so many times I wanted to reach you if only I was still in Ph I would have love to guide you all over. Even when you were asking for suggestions of where to go but I stayed silent. I may not always interact however just to let you know you have a friend in me and I always click the thumbs up!:) Again, thank you for bringing us along to your journey. Always be safe and happy trip.

Hello Travel Gretl Thank you so much visiting el nido and your great video i keep watching many times cuz i love it and i appreciated... i remembered what Gen.Mc Arthur promised when he left during Japanese occupation in the phil. " I SHALL RETURN" i hope you can do the same. hehehe and don't hesitate to ask any assistance to every folks in times you needed. the people of el nido are helpful, friendly and always keep smilling with you..El nido is my hometown i grown up, our home was 20-30 minutes a distance walk to Nacpan Beach..i am ofw and i was there last month..what a big surprise to me is a rapid building constructions of hotels, restaurants etc.not only in Las Cabanas beach but in Leo Beach and Lamoro beach as will...Road construction from 2 lanes to 6 lanes..from el nido proper to Sibaltan seaport for RO-RO is ongoing...again thank you and more power to your channel..

How did you travel between Topik Beach, El Nido, and Nacpan? I am going there in a month by myself and I am curious. Also, would you suggest doing the big group island hopping tours? Have they been insanely busy to where you wish you had booked a private tour? Finally, have you booked your tours online before arriving in El Nido or in person once you arrived?
@TravelGretl

Hi! From Tapik Beach to El Nido it's quite easy to go by bus (ask in Tapik Beach for possibilities) - it does not take long! They took me to Nacpan too - but you can rent a scooter as well. I mostly arrange all tours on the spot, only the long tour with Buhay Isla was preplanned!

Much has really changed the past couple of years. Some for the better. Some for the worse. I went there June last year. The last before that was in 2012. The difference was quite a shock. A lot of better restaurants and bars. More decent hotels. New part of town coming alive. And yes, a bank with ATM!!! But what's disappointing is the island hopping. Too crowded now. Couldn't even stop at big lagoon anymore for a swim. Ah... I miss the times when I had it for myself back in 2007.

I can imagine. I heard more people talk about the El Nido from years ago, when only a small road went there and the surroundings were not overcrowded yet! I think reality will never be able to live up to those memories anymore. Great you have one like those - they are rare :)

It does seem a lot more crowed than even a couple months ago. We were there in JAN and FEB it was crowed but not that bad.

Are you still in the Philippines? Try to visit the bicol region, and some unpopular provinces in visayas and Mindanao too. Philippines has a lot more to offer. A lot of hidden gems :)
