Thank you Shaun. We are glad you enjoyed it. There is a lot more we are discovering in Central America. There won't be a video today. But we hope we can soon post a new one. Enjoy your day ❤️

Last time I was in San Salvador, I stayed in La Zona Rosa at El Presidente Hotel. All of the businesses were protected by armed guards. Most people in the city open carried, not just pistols, but shotguns, sub machine guns, machetes. There was a distinct air of no one trusting anyone, even 10 years after the civil war had ended. I worked for a Canadian bank whose Data Centre was the former U.S. Embassy. Still had gun turrets (unoccupied), barbed/razor wire on top of the walls and thick steel doors. The U.S. had decided they no longer needed such high security measures for their Embassy. I mentioned this to a Salvadoran woman (she worked for the same bank) who was still living there at the time and told me "you are 100% correct that there is no trust." I truly hope those days are gone.

El Salvador was such an eye openening experience. We felt it was extremely safe. The president has done well to turn the country around. Many people whom left years ago are returning and and are extremely happy to see tourists in their beloved country. We were thanked sooo many times for visiting! It means a lot to them. We noticed that many countries in Central America still have armed guards everywhere and that might be the case for a while but el Salvador has really changed.

What kind of expectations did you have of this small Latin American Country?

MS and other gangs have lost their influence. The President adopted Bitcoin as an official currency. They've made positive steps since the civil war but we'll see how it goes.
