My recent trip to El Salvador was an amazing experience that helped me learn that the country is very different than I perceived beforehand. Thank you Thomas, I'm from Santa Ana and made me very happy to see my town. We are working to make El Salvador better with the help of God, starting with the best world class education for our kids and taking care of our elders who are the best part of our culture. We have a lot to change in our country but it will be better. Please comeback and stay in ATACO for a few days in any little hotel and enjoy fresh organic food and nature. Take care.

I miss my beloved country, I miss cuco and tuna beach in the orient region , san miguel ,the best beaches in el salvador. I miss fry fish and some local beers. bless from LA. Thomas, you did not visit the orient region of el salvador. .San miguel is the second most populated city in el salvador now very hot region, but it has the most awesome large beautiful beaches of el salvador. cuco beach , las flores , la ventana beach are great for surfing.

Nice video. Just a note, the reason why there are so many stands in front of the church and city hall in Santa Ana is because the local market caught fire a couple of months ago and so the city has allowed them to set up shop there temporarily.

It is usually foggy in the mountains during winter (rainy season), especially in the late afternoon. The hike to the Santa Ana Volcano is REALLY worth seeing. It is absolutely a "wow" view you would hardly see from other volcanoes (you can see the green lagoon of its crater, several other volcanoes, mountains, the lake of Coatepeque and the Pacific (I really recommend it if you come back). The best time to see El Salvador completely blue is December-February). Great video!

Juayua has a beautiful waterfall that is about 30 minutes from the plaza. On sundays they have food fair, so it's perfect after you been swimming and hiking.
