El Salvador super prison takes 2,000 more suspects in gang crackdown

El Salvador’s government sent 2,000 more suspects to a huge new prison built especially for gang members on Wednesday, and the the justice minister vowed that “they will never return” to the streets.
The tough statement came as the administration of President Nayib Bukele asked for yet another extension of anti-gang emergency measures that would take the crackdown into its 13th month.
During the past 354 days, about 65,000 people have been arrested in the anti-gang campaign. Human rights groups say that there have been many instances of prisoner abuses and that innocent people have been swept up in police raids.
The government announced the mass inmate transfer with a slickly produced video posted on social media. It showed prisoners forced to run barefoot and handcuffed down stairways and over bare ground, clad only in regulation white shorts. They were then forced to sit with their legs locked in closely clumped groups in cells.

Those thugs lost their rights when they started murdering, raping and extorting from the innocent people of El Salvador. I don't hear anyone there complaining and in fact President Bukele is considered a hero there. Jobs are on the rise, as is tourism and many many retail stores from Nike to Northface to Louis Vuitton have opened stores there in immaculate shopping malls. I've was there last December and it was wonderful to see the progress the country has made is only a few years.

Definitely too late unfortunately years of corruption the government and cartel work side by side. They protect each other and continue like they have for many years now … extorting innocent people , raping women , people go missing left and right and simply terrorizing people who just try to stay safe each day. I hope one day Mexico gets a president like Nayib Bukele who brings down corruption and wipes it clean off the street. I applaud that man for taking action with the issues that have only brought fear and sadness to innocent peoples life’s. Those prisoners lost their human right when they killed innocents and set buses on fire to show power to rival gangs.

To even attempt this in Mexico would go horribly wrong not just for Mexico but the bordering countries. There’s not enough honorable officials in Mexico, everything the Mexican government did or moved would be known by the cartel and I honestly don’t believe they could stop a full out “gang” war between the larger families and the government
