I used to embrace the mud all the way up to my knees way back when I lived on a ranch. I would have had a blast on that hike.

Yeah, farm/ranch experience sure helps with the embracing of the mud! I (Skylar) knew I would enjoy it, but I was a bit unsure if Jamie would. I'm pretty sure she ended up enjoying it every bit as much as I did, although it took her much longer to embrace the mud 😅.

I love it when there’s a good pile of hiking sticks at the start of a trail. Those dogs had the right idea getting shade in the sun under your car. Love Jamies attempts to avoid the mud, worked for a while at least! 😂
@Explorcation
@Explorcation 2 жыл бұрын
We had read on reviews that hikers typically left sticks at the trail head...but I wasn't expecting a pile quite like that 😆 we really had or pick! Aww those dogs, I can't believe they were still there 5 hrs later!! If I ever hike that trail again, I will sure commit to the mud sooner, it was much easier than avoiding it! Thanks for watching guys :)

Woohoooo!! Congrats on 10K 🥳 Jamie, you did so well to avoid the mud at first Haha I would try my best to avoid it too! The views definitely makes this hike worth it. Love your little celebration dance 💁‍♀️ Great ad for those waterproof socks!! The pinchos from Yunni’s looks so yum, and how cool are all the jungle sounds while you’re having dinner.
@Explorcation
@Explorcation 2 жыл бұрын
We miss those jungle sounds so much! They were so relaxing and put us both asleep almost immediately... of course the exhaustion from all the hiking and lack of sleep could have contributed to that too 😅 Thanks so much for the congrats. It was a long road, but glad we finally hit that milestone. Hopefully the second 10k will come MUCH quicker! Our 200th video milestone is right around the corner too. It's pretty crazy to think we've been doing this for so long already!

wow guys this was an amazing hike. I have been to a few hikes where sticks are available and if you notice, they are always on the ones you need it. I'm blown away with how much mud was here and the worse I have ever seen on a hiking trail. I once did 80klms(49 miles) over 6 days through tasmania, that was muddy, but not this bad.... we were also taught that it was safer to get you feet wet than trying to avoid it. I guess this makes sence in some cases. All the mud was worth it in the end though and you view was amazing. But you did the same as me and thinking you have got to the end and then there is more. Good thing that sign was there ...LOL Just like my last hike, clouds came in and blocked your view but at least you got to see some of it. I bet your clothes and shoes went straight in the wash we you got back home :) and a well deserved meal - Congrats guys :)
@Explorcation
@Explorcation 2 жыл бұрын
You are 100% right on it being safer to go right through the mud. We found that the areas around the mud tended to be quite slick, but going right through was quite stable. One of us did have a fall on this hike (not a bad one fortunately), and it wasn't the person who was embracing the mud 😂. A 49 mile hike through Tasmania sounds intense, but amazing. I (Skylar) would love to try a longer hike like this someday! We knew we'd be super muddy, so thankfully we had packed a change of clothes which we changed into before getting into the car. We also rinsed out all of our clothes and shoes with a hose outside our airbnb before throwing them in the wash. Surprising, our shoes look almost as good as they did before the hike!
@AquariusTraveller
@AquariusTraveller 2 жыл бұрын
@@Explorcation you would love the Tassie hike... but I did it an expensive way with specialised accommodations along the way. Means a nice hot shower and comfy bed each night...and not need to take food. Lesson learned then... embrace the mud 🤣🤣...ever since then, I do as well.
@Explorcation
@Explorcation 2 жыл бұрын
@@AquariusTraveller alright it's definitely getting added to the list. I had a bit of an infatuation with Tasmania (and Tasmanian Devils) when I was a kid, so it seems 100% necessary to visit and do an epic hike there!

Nice videos but I’d like to know how you were able to get the tickets to El Yunque that wasn’t through a tour? According to the island residents; the tickets to el Yunque have been monopolized by the tour companies? Thank you
@Explorcation
@Explorcation Жыл бұрын
It's been a little while now, but there was a website we had to log onto at a very specific time in order to purchase tickets. I think we described the process in the other El Yunque video. You definitely can access El Yunque without doing so through a tour, or at least you could back when we made this video! Thanks for watching.
