Elana, Adopted from Bergen-Belsen, Speaks to Her Polish Brother for the First Time

Elana, raised on a kibbutz in Israel, learned as a child that she was adopted. She eventually found her birth mother and was able to spend time with her before her death, but she never revealed the identity of Elana's birth father. MyHeritage CEO Gilad Japhet came across her story and put his team on the case, and after many months of meticulous research, they were able to identify Elana's father - a Polish resistance fighter - and connect Elana with a half-brother in Poland. This is the footage from the first time they spoke via video chat at the MyHeritage headquarters.

How wonderful. I used to hope to meet my biological family but, my mother travelled from Aotearoa/ New Zealand to America where she started a new family and l have never learned who my father was although l have been told that, even though they were separated at the time, her first husband is legally considered to be my father. I have no records of him though, as only my birth mother's name was on the original copy of my birth certificate.
