🔴 Elasticity - 7 || Shear Modulus or Modulus of Rigidity || in HINDI for Class 11

In this Physics video in Hindi for class 11 we explained shear modulus or modulus of rigidity and derived its formula from Hooke's Law. We also explained its S.I. unit and its dimension. Shear modulus or modulus of rigidity is the ratio of the shearing stress to the shearing strain. When a body is fixed at one face and a tangential force is applied on the opposite face, it undergoes a shearing strain. This strain is the ratio of the displacement of the face (x) to its distance from the fixed face (l). The shearing stress is the ratio of the restoring force (F) to the surface area (A) on which the force is applied tangentially. Shear modulus is denoted by G.
G = σs/εs
G = (F/A)/(x/L)
G = (F × L) /(A × x)
Since strain is a dimensionless quantity, the unit of shear modulus is the same as that of stress i.e., N m^(-2) or Pascal (Pa).
