Sir mera ek doubt hai,ki agar ham kisi material ko pull karte hai to kya uski longitudinal dimension or laterally dimension me linearly increment or decrement hota hai,sir mujhe lagta hai ki jab ham kisi material ko pull ya push karenge to uski dono dimensions me linearly change nahi hota hai,kyonki jab ham kisi rubber ko pull karte hai to janha se use pakdte hai vanha to vah wide hoti hai or bich me se kam wide hoti hai,esa hi steel wire me dekhne ko milta hai,to fir poisson ratio ki value kaise sahi aa sakti hai,,,sir plz clarify this doubt,,

Instead of continuing this norm scientists could have made 2 categories as poisonous ratio for normal objects and poisonous ratio of auxetics then they could have defined the ratio by making it negative
