Before there was DEI in Corporate America, there was affirmative action - a set of policies implemented in 1965 in response to the Civil Rights movement which aimed to increase the representation of underrepresented groups, such as women and people of color, in education and employment.
Almost 60 years later, and in the midst of a movement which seeks to disenfranchise people of color, affirmative action is once again front and center, this time being challenged in the Supreme Court of the United States.
On June 13, The Executive Leadership Council hosted an online conversation moderated by ELC CEO Michael C. Hyter with a diverse panel of experts to discuss the implications of repealing affirmative action as they relate to DEI initiatives, talent acquisition and retention, and changing demographics in the country, and how organizations can stay committed to sustaining a more equitable workforce and talent pipeline.
