With Elden Ring DLC on the horizion, one of my favorite things about From Software releases is the community search for secrets and discoveries. Elden Ring is the prime example of a game with lots of hidden secrets and mechanics and today we're breaking down 8 very cool ones. Elden Ring is an action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game was directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki and made in collaboration with fantasy novelist George R. R. Martin, who provided material for the game's setting.

That glintsone does somewhat look like a fetus, however it also could look like a parsed pair of lips. Could go either was, because life and breath metaphors are a thing, but the cosmic/lovecraftian theme holdovers from Bloodborne could also be the case.

The whistle is actually sadder than you realize It's not torrent calling for help, is the wind blowing through the whistle. Meaning Torrent was called while the frenzied flame was burning in the tree, and consumed Torrent in it.

To me, it's even sadder. The wind simply goes within the whistle, the sound is supposed to summon him and Torrent doesn't appear as it should.

I think Zullie the Witch mentioned in a video that Tree sentinels share the same AI and animation rig with the horse. It is technically a single NPC, allowing it to do more advanced jumping attacks and unique animations only seen with that enemy (like the large shield slam). All other mounted enemies are separate NPCs with their own AI, that's why they can be dismounted.

The face on the helmet doesn’t have to be Rykard. It could also be a previous person the snake could’ve devoured. I wouldn’t be surprised if events probably keep repeating themselves. It could just be a previous time the snake devoured someone, then was killed and then revived and devoured Rykard.

I had a theory that maybe the events of the game have happened before, but either completed incorrectly or incompletely. The lands between, to me, almost eludes to this in its name. From soft has a lot of rebirth allegory, both in Elden ring and the souls series. Cant wait for the story dlc to drop and get more insight.

Maybe, but in line with the status of Rykard, could be him, its a preator and following the rol of preators of ancient rome, its possible. My only problem with this is that the serpent devoured NUMEROUS people in its life. Rykard was special because he was both a demigod and possessed a great rune which is why he was able to retain control on an equal status as the serpent. I doubt anyone else would be capable

There could’ve been another Lord of Blasphemy during the time of Placidusax. But of course the face on the helmet is human but there could’ve been a lot of time between then and current day of Rykard. Obviously we can’t know this so it’s just fun to speculate.

I climbed on top of the Walking Mausoleum in Deeproot Depths and took it down. All of the souls in the entire area I had avoided were just gone. I never knew that it was because of the skulls being destroyed. Great discovery. :D

use mohgs great rune wich boosts the attack and defense of your summon, also you can buff your summons, that includes useing a bewitching branch on an enemy you can buff bewitched enemys also. use golden vow or lords boon for healing over time.

Something to tag into your erdtree find. Note Miquella literally uses his blood to grow the Haglitree. I think the Erdtree is no different, hence the erdtree burials and the living jars purpose. I also have a lingering theory this could potentially be part of what the formless mother would want. No doubt the mother of wounds would have loved these arenas. Just imagine if her blood could be within the erdtree itself. Almost something to akin to how Godwyns corpse being at the roots of the erdtree allows him to taint the rest of the world above. Just replace Godwyn with the now cursed blood filled Miquella

@@Ziostorm sometime else I would have brought up that could connect the formless mother to a garden is the blood roses, that could be her plant of decomposition. Hence why they grow out of blood. And there’s a lot of connects between roses and their thorns to bloodstar/formless mother (Of the camp that believes the bloodstar is a vassel beast of the FM)

@@redglintstonescholar7605 the flaming monks use a rose thorn whip on the mountaintop of the giants. This could be kind of a hint toward the idea of repentence through flagelation or possibly just a way to facilitate blood spilling for sacrifice. They are also surrounded by the briar witches which are entirely fuled by blood. That leads to the thought that it could just be a resource the cursed witches and monks use, and might be a reason for their curse. Much to speculate.

@@TheBl00D1u5t the fire monks and thorn spells actuall share a similar casting sigil. You also have the candlestick which is literally a dudes head that he willingly removed. Eecolaid (I forget the name atm) but Elmer’s homeland also holds to aesthetic practices, hence wearing literal iron briars when a sinner/guilty. House Hoslow also uses flowery weapons like varre, pedal whips, that proc bleed. Their house is one told in blood, and their armors adorned by red jewels, possibly red glintstone( considering their blood affinity). I also have a small theory that the omen curse could be loved by the formless mother. There’s the idea that the omen twins could use bloodflame long before Mohgs communion to the formless mother. You even find normal omens using bloodflame in the fell twin boss fight before the divine tower. Most incantions will tell you if the stem from her but bloodflame comes from Mohg, and Morgott is clearly able to use it even though he never contacted the formless mother. And something about them always being called fell omen or fell twins. Makes me wanna believe their curse and the omen curse stems from the curse of the giants. And their firery omen blood is a ill omen of the burning of the erdtree. Something I always found curious to tag into this for symbolic purposes is dung eaters armor, he’s literally got a sun/star covered in dried blood on his chest. And it even in description says it’s a symbol of his path in life. Would also make more sense why Liurnia and Raya Lucaria would have a blood church nearby and also have the church of a vows for redemption of sin. Seeing as they have close ties to the Giants

The frenzied flame is one of the best lore thingies they ever put into a game. I just wished they would’ve done more with it in the overworld like that one tower. By the way in the first trailer the narrator said ”look up at the sky. It burns.“ Could this be referring to the flame ending? I mean it could also mean the sky of Caelid which was seen in the shot during said line.

I think the Frenzied Flame was going to be (or will be) important. I mean, I think that the whole thing with burned Melina talking about killing you is much more foreshadowing than any of the other endings.

There was a bigger traider quest in the game. The one in limgrave next to the start (idk, kayle ?) . U can see this quest on KZbin bcs it's in the code of the game and modder got it back. I like it more how it is now bcs it's so secret and mysterious .

I have a really unique secret that I found about just today after over 550 hours of Elden Ring. There is a special interaction with an incredibly rare enemy variant that only exist in one very specific spot in the game. Next to the frenzied flame village if you follow the path that the scarab holding the frenzy flame bolt would hold there is a very unique frenzy variant of the miranda flowers. Their "poison" now afflicts you with frenzy and they look black, sort of charred. This is already very obscure and I assume many people don't know about these. But there is an even more obscure interaction with these frenzy flowers. Both the small and the large flowers have a special interaction with when hit with a fire type attack, which is usally the miranda flowers weakness. The small one's explode into a frenzy explosion and the big one becomes enraged, flayling around instead of being stunned like the others. Would be interested if any of you guys knew about this before. This is in the wiki but I have never heard any one talk about or mention this before.

On the small chance that it hasn't already been discussed elsewhere, one interesting little environmental detail I recently noticed was on the Forge of the Giants. On one side, you have a fairly conventional looking crack in the forge. On the other side, however, right by the Site of Grace, you have two cracks. I never noticed this before my most recent visit, but the two cracks are actually connected to two troughs running down towards the embers, and they look suspiciously like claw marks left in the forge by a Two Fingers entity. The implications from this detail are fascinating and disturbing. What exactly happened at the climax of the war against the giants, and did the Two Fingers entities play some kind of active participating role in all of it?

I knew about the secret with the walking mausoleums thanks to the one in Deep Root Depths. That area was full of those headless knights more than any other, so it was blatantly obvious that they died after I took down that mausoleum. I didn't see those knights die the first time, though, so I made it a point to do it again on a second playthrough just to watch it happen while taking off those skulls. Sure enough, saw the knights collapsed. That was a very awesome sight to see.

I actually started playing the game post-coliseum update, and when I found claws I fell in love. Their bleed build up almost perfectly lined up to kill all basic enemies right when they hit the threshold, and it was extremely good at building bleed in general with the high attack speed and decently high build up

I’m not sure about the Rykard symbolism on the duelist helm, but I think you’re on to something about it being foreshadowing. We know the serpent existed for a looooong time before even Godfrey, so its image is likely what made serpents reviled, so the face on the helm could be another way to make people hate the duelists and want to see them defeated; imply through their helmets that they’ve been devoured. Just a thought

I made a claw build using 1.07 and thought it was fine. My major issues with the build are the weapon reach, but that's not something that will get fixed in a patch. Some bosses are ridiculously easy and some are way harder than previous builds, much like most interesting weapon types in the Souls games.

Stormhawk Deenh is my personal best choice for spirit summon arena matches. For the most part spirits in the arena are very "set and forget" meaning you just summon them and ignore them and only focus on the other players. Deenh is great for that cause he starts off every match by giving you a pretty large buff to physical attack (takes my heavy greatsword from 875 AR to 1050, so 175 extra damage) then just starts flying around, being a high annoyance for any opponents who are on melee builds, and moves around enough to give mages a little concern too. The buff is so nice there were very few times I wasn't able to sweep the whole opposing team.

I can get behind it being rykards face on the serpent helmet, the underbelly and face almost look like they were forged onto them after they were made originally. So possibly they altered them after rykard became the serpent king to show devotion.

I created a build with the Katars and cragblade. The running R2 can stun players allowing for a follow up R1 or R2 making it a true combo. It deals tons of damage that I tend to kills players before they have enough time to roll away.

Loretta cant be dismounted because i believe she is an Albenuric and she is paralyzed from the waist down like most of the others, and so as a result her armour is also part of the horse armour, making them fused together, and making it impossible for her to be dismounted.

If Melina does turn out to be the Gloam eyed queen, it would really give us insight to her depth as a character. Maybe the opposition to the Golden Order weren't trying to destroy everything and that they were attempting to save it from the Golden Order diminishing the lands between, or someone using the frenzied flame to burn it all into one. And perhaps the taboo practices of the Nox and Volcano Manor were there only way of fighting the Golden Order as everyone worshipped the Erdtree and its following, so no one would betray it's glory from either love or fear. 🤔

@@sk8legendz I've had the theory for a while that the Gloam Eyed queen was able to control death, which is why her, thye godskin, the nox and the volcano manor were such huge issues to the golden order, so i definitely agree with you brother. They seemed to exist as opposites to eachother, one could say this is a balance with the theory of this game being heavily based in alchemy, and that gold and silver mixed become platinum (correct me if im wrong). Envision a balancing scale, both of these sides exist in harmony, but when gold seals the power of silver, it off sets this balance and throws everything into chaos. To put it simply, I believe Marika and Maliketh Sealing Destined Death was the mistake that began the domino affect we see happen in the lands between.🍻

I have a wild theory about the last finding, and that is that the God devouring serpent always had a face to show, like the snake wasn't just a creature that lived in the volcano, most likely it was the snake that at some point ate a demigod and Because of that it has that name. And then Rykard joined the serpent and was able to control many aspects of the snake, but he completely lost his mind. "Join our family" is not the same as, join me and my snake in our search of power.

Yeah no, this theory breaks a little bit of lore, rykard. If you see the first few cutscenes rykards being eaten by a tiny snake, because of the great rune the snake grew and rykard took control. Rykard was the only demigod eaten by it, every body you see is just food that gives the snake energy and rykard power (souls). He wanted us to join since we’re filled with power by the time we meet rykard.

I find it unlikely that the duelists would be updating their gear when they themselves are already repurposed old warriors who are still using their old tools. Rather, I feel like this hints that there's a pretty huge chunk of forgotten history before the reign of Godfrey. Maybe the battle between Marika's Golden Order and the Gloam Eyed Queen's Godskin Apostles was a much bigger event than we initially thought, and maybe under the ranks of the Gloam Eyed Queen there was another Lord of Blasphemy before Rykard.

The Sentinels aren't dismountable for a very simple reason, usually it's a combo of the ride and the rider as 2 separate entities with different AIs, but they both have some kind of "link" so the rider can ride the ride (Zullie did a video about that a while back) while the Sentinels (Tree Sentinels, Draconic Tree Sentinels and Loretta) are a 2 in one entity, the model is just 1, so think of it as 1 enemy, while the Kaiden Sellswords are 2 (the rider and the horse) ;-D

I`m quite new to Elden Ring, but after I dropped the "Hookclaws" from a corpse in the wine cellar of Stormveil Castle and then equipped them for the first time to test them against mobs, I knew that I should definitely level up these claws, because they look very impressive to me in combat and quickly do nasty damage plus bleeding and now with current level "+5" they are real beasts with a lot of fun to use.

The horse could be a part of the Tree Sentinel. Kinda like it's summoning it with some kind of Aspect of the Crucible.

70 arcane and +25 bleed spiked castus are amazing very fast attacks for fast bleed
