Gonna slap another comment in for shits and giggles, I appreciate you talking through and explaining for new players that you seriously don't have to go fight Margit right off the bat, he's very tough if you're starting out with no knowledge, so roaming the area first really gets you ready for the fight, I barely progressed through the castle because I realized I needed to get stronger before continuing. It's a sort of cycle. Explore, get stronger, fight boss, repeat.

Just want to point out that Nito didn't get a soul shard from Gwyn that was Seathe and the four kings and later on he divided it up among the gods of Anor Londo before departing to the kiln to link the fire and extend the age of fire longer. Nito and the witch of izialith received thier own unique lord souls from the first flame during it's advent. Marika is different from Gywn too whereas Gwyn wanted to maintain his power as the high God by any means necessary Marika grew disillusioned with the golden order (probably after her favorite kid was murdered) and chose to end it herself by shattering the source of her power the elden ring.

The point of Margit is to teach you to teach to ho somewhere else if you come up to difficult encounter in would also say if you talk to npcs and exhaust there dialogue as well a read item description, it well nudge you in different directions to go. I was able to do every npc quest line except 1 or 2 in my first playthrough without a guide. Its just readjusting how your used to video games telling you what to do

I think the tutorial boss being a normal enemy was a good call, given Fromsoft knew tons of new players who know the souls game reputation would be playing, die to grafted scion etc. So they gave them a confidence boost with an easily killed "boss". And then proceed to smash their faces in with Tree Sentinel, but the point of that boss is that you can come back.
