Hello here is an update to those people not knowing how to get your Carian retaliation! The stuff you pick up from them when they are dead , go to the twin bell bearing lady in the round table and give her them and you will have access to the ash of war

There's another party called storm wall that deflects projectiles like arrows and throwing knives. Retaliation counters all spell and incantation projectiles and another one retaliates against all magic

This might be the most OP ability in the entire game, the damage on it is just crazy. You can cheese every boss in the game with this thing. PvP is actually unfair with it too

Now imagine a shield that replicte a resins aka, the guy you parry has Fire resin, your reposte Will add Fire effect to you weapon... That'd be nutty

I got to him. He was dead so I took the bell bearing to the twin husk and it didn't have it. Is it gone now?

If you use glintstone scraps you can use it on yourself and do crazy damage on basically everything. If your a mage as well you can use stars of ruin instead and its even crazier.

How does stars of ruin make it crazy. I know you can do it but I'm wondering about utility. Personally I use the whispering bell

I found the bell like 30 minutes after posting that and tbh its probably better in the long run from a utility standpoint. Stars of ruin i noticed did higher damage generally as it scaled with int, but it was unreliable as you have to time your parry right. Even though the bell scales with faith, you can pretty much get it every time and put more damage downrange. Plus its fp usage is almost negligible.

should i do magic or heavy ashes of war on my shield? i want to use magic but it doesnt give my shield 100% physical damage block. is there a shield tht will still give 100% physical dmg block but also have the magic version applied to it? or is 95% dmg block still good?

That is totally dependent on your stats. If you are running a strength build, I would recommend a heavy version. But truthfully I don’t notice much of a difference if you apply the magic version.

Only thing you should need to have is FP and a shield that your guy can wield stats wise. The version of the ash of war Im using is also the magic version. Feel free to hop in my discord I can try and help out.

The Mohgwyn Palace. Near the first site of grace, on the ledge and below & across there’s a rotted crow that you can use a projectile on to aggro it off and it will die and give upwards of 13k runes per death and you can just rinse and repeat thanks to the site of grace right there. Also you can slaughter a bunch of mohgwyns right there too, then reset again. Helps if you have golden scarab.
