Would love a video describing when to use an ash of war infusion to get the faith or intelligence scaling vs keeping it heavy/keen and using a weapon buff or grease. Been playing with Milady with sacred scaling but I’m wondering if my 70 dex, 40 str 40 dex build, for example, would benefit from setting the blade on fire or holy buffed instead.

I like to cosplay as rellana with Milady on the magic infusion because it has B scaling in int. Greatblade phalanx, charged glintblade trio, and rock sling help stagger bosses very easily, giving an opportunity for a fully charged carian sovereignty

My favourite part of this AoW is that when you pancake something with the vertical, it can catch them standing up when you use the horizontal, there have been some weapons where the next swing after a pancake is just slightly too fast and they're still in s.

HI , thanx for this and your dedication while it helped me a lot with previous videos :) I have tested that build inside the early area game with Kaiden knights - for 2 hours ish - and this build has absolute ZERO hyperarmor ! Whatever I had , a gard of 20, (your actual build) or 71 (mine) , I was totally vaporised during the ash of war charges (phase 1 / 2 and 3, before slash). We are Wed 31/07 , so maybe some re-balances has been made (2 updates since your video ) ... But , no this do not work at all : ) zero hyperarmor with this ash of war . I am on PC so its very easy to make tests :) ! Peace 😘

Great vid! I like how the DLC didn't give us many great new things for int builds. However, we got a good shield, good sword, and good skill to CAST SWORD. I used this on my Int/DEx build but was higher SL and have more Dex and a little lower Sta/Mnd. But I put this on a magic Claymore I leveled once I got it. So I'll have to give your playstyle a bit of a try. I too was trying a bit of a block counter with a bit more armor, so light rolling may be the way to go.

The Lordsworn's GS is a good candidate for this build. Lower stat reqs and a 110 crit modifier.

Throw the glintstone kris on the same hand as the staff, this lets you have a quick attack and the best glintstone pebble cast in the game! It fees up a magic slot and it double dips fron your spellblade set, its a must!

I like the Lazuli Glintstone Sword. Seems to do better in NPC and player invasions than the Kris as the thrust is more likely to hit.

Yea it's true for pretty much all AOWs. Hyperarmor also reduces damage taken the heavier your weapon class (not weight) , nobody knows this but it does.

HI again :) Following my previous post, I have made a bit more tests (in the very early Church of Elleth zone) and the hyperarmor is working as long as ennemies are not doing "heavy attacks" with their weapons. 1 heavy attack and you are interrupted any time even by early game weak soldiers ... (which makes sense otherwise that would be too easy), same with ennemies ridding horses but for them no need for heavy attacks while the weight and speed of the horse will do it ;) . So , not my main weapon choice at all..., BUT could be very nice when paired with Phalanx+ Darkmoon Sword of Ranni : You stagger/stunt the huge baboons with Phalanx+Darkmoon, then - taking your claymore- you will have easy peasy time to empty the ennemy lifebar + adding more stagger status ... Voila, just my humble idea :) Peace 😘

They nerfed the glintblade phalanx AOW the day the DLC dropped. Was having an amazing time using it on the Claymore, breaking stances and dropping cool sorceries. It was my first time falling in love with that weapon and spellcasting on a fresh character, leading up to the SoTE, and then POOF, build is gone. This. This is how I revive that run and finish the job. Thank you.

I found using adula's moonblade as one of my sorceries helped as a followup attack for the sovereignty. does the cold damage you need. or if you wanna be even more busted, do adula's moonblade first to proc the frost debuff.

Funny i replayed enlden ring basegame and finished it now playing the almost exact magebuild (used carian blade sword instead of the ash of war), now with level 165 ready for the DLC 😊

I played through with this ash of war and.... I wish I knew that different weapons give different hyper armor. I used a thrusting sword (Ant's Rapier) and I felt like I could rarely use the ash of war because everyone would knock me out of it. When it went off though, it was a monster. The light roll comment is interesting too - on a tip from another Fextralife video, I've been using the winged crystal tear on Radahn (with heavy load even) and light rolling makes a world of difference in that fight. I bet it helps a lot on Gaiss (sp?) too.

Try it with the Iron Greatsword. I think it's from the better strength scaling it gets, but it can dish out way more damage. I tested all the greatswords, and it seems to be the overall winner. Huge increase to hyper armor/poise as well. Might be my favorite weapon in the game.

Honestly, I think this build is better with heavier armor. You won’t get as much damage, but you get more poise and defense, offsetting the scorpion charm. You need the endurance for the stamina pool anyway, so I think making use of that for defense is better for people who struggle as a glass cannon. As for mobility, I think Miriam’s vanishing (is that the name?), or whatever the teleport spell is called can help you reposition and get the ash of war off if you need more space and the medium roll isn’t enough. I think the utility of the spell is putting you in position to utilize your aow.

No, it is just very bad. Its scaling is bad, its damage is pitiful and its rot apply rate is slow. So it is not worth even though it looks fabulous.

I was looking for this video weeks ago because I was trying to make a build around this and today you drop the video. So my thing is level 200- 70 intelligence 40 dex 30 faith and most of my spells is Glenstone Hayes to teleport for PVP then that slicing cold sword spell andof course, the Ash war referencing in this video. The only difference is that my main weapon is the milady .

I was hoping for a Carian Sov. Build. I loved the Carian Grandeur Spellblade, so seeing a straight upgrade to it is fantastic. I'd like to see a Poleblade of the Bud build or a Legionaire style build w/ Shield and the Soldier Spear.

After trying it, I’d like to note that the hyper armor on heavy thrusting swords (namely the great epee) does not seem to be as high as it is on the other great sword weapons.

I use with great katana, because of its moveset, damage, blood buildup ( i know its not pretty much when cold/magic infused, but sometimes i think can help) and because is my favorite weapon in game

I love your build videos. One thing that I think would be a cool addition is to mention a few other good weapons you can slot in without having to respec. Sometimes a different damage type or strategy would be better for a particular boss so what other good options does the build have?

Great build, are you considering doing a jar focused build at some point? Perhaps taking advantage of the rock pots and there lack of equipment weight with the blue dancer charm or the red lightning pot with its AOE (or whatever pots easiest to craft)

I just did a Faith run with this weapon. 80 Faith, Sacred or Flame art Affinity depending on what area of the game. I wore most of the Death Knight set to boost Knight's Lightning Spear and other Dragon cult Incantations. I added Black Knight Greaves for 51 poise. There are a few good AoW that go well with the weapon, but I settled on Lion's Claw. It does amazing damage/stance damage. I tried Savage Lion's Claw for a while, but the standard AoW does more with two hits. I killed the Putrid Knight in 4 hits of Lion's Claw! Depending on what you prefer, you can do guard-counter, or two hand the hammer. Add a seal in your off-hand for buffs and damage incants. Have fun Tarnished!

Great build but please remember that you can absolutely use this build with medium load and 51 poise, light roll is fully unnecessary. I know he said it’s good for positioning but that’s just a skill issue truly, you can medium roll and succeed just as well if not better due to higher poise allowing you to hit through some enemies’ attacks.

Iv been playing carian, but glintblades. I keep considering these other spells and ashes of war but I love charging in along with a storm of glowing swords instead of one. I can also memorize how many of each it takes to stagger tricky enemies and have them just kneel as I walk up through the swords.

I don't know if this is mass news yet but I found out that golem smiths can get killed easier with magic. I use ambush shard which strikes from behind and hits the red stone. Thought spell wasn't great until I realized.

Its a little confusing when youre talking about affinities, just to clarify, the weapon affinity does NOT affect the weapon skill Carian Sovereignty is that correct? Youre just mentioning it to talk about int scaling when using regular melee attacks (deciding on Magic or Cold affinity)?

If you hit the enemy with Rennala full moon you’ll lower the enemy defense to magic making the aow do even more damage
