I usually see it as a pvp joke where you check the other players vigor stat with a strong attack out the door that shouldn't one shot unless the player never invested in the stat. I've seen a lot of wizards die this way.

​@@turkeyblt_2694 Far as I can tell a vigor check is seen as any move that nukes your health bar into oblivion specifically because you didn't put enough points in vigor. Normally you can survive most attacks in the game if you leveled vigor to around 60. Thus, if you can survive a hit with leveled vigor, but you end up dying because you DIDN'T level vigor enough, then you "got vigor checked"
