Messmer's Orb is not weak at all... Even without any Fire Knight seals, I've been doing around 1600-1700 damage with a charged spell. (I used Fire Knight Armor though, to improve it by 5%)

People have been weird with it because you get no hyper armor for the first bit of the spell. But I've also used it to jump over a lot of attacks, both delbritley and accidentally.

@@motivepigeon I agree. I just noticed in PvE that you can avoid attacks that go low to the ground. It leads to pretty cool kills. I feel like it should have some hyper armor too. But it's really good and has a huge area of effect regardless. Great for sneaky kills in PvP

@SZMarcos I think Fromsoft mindset was they didn't want to always rely on hyper armor for spells and were finding alternative ways to avoid damage while still having vulnerability. Otherwise, it would just be the fire version of fortissax Lightning Spear, but with easier ways to buff the damage. Also quick tip; I've been using it a lot with the Impalers spear. The second part of the ashe of war has really good recovery and can actually use messmers orb in substitute of finishing the ashe of war. It uses a lot of fp but it catches a lot of people off gaurd if thier close enough, plus most people expect you to finish the ashe of war so you are given enough time to cast it without being in danger of being hit unless they somehow predict it... which hasn't happened yet.

There are enough ways to make this spell work without hyper armor. Some people are just to lazy to adapt. I like it the way it is 🙂damage really good, uncharged super fast cast speed, full charge speed also very fine.

have a similar build. it's pretty fun, but most invasions end similarly to the first two in the vid: charge messmer's orb, host/phantoms roll bad, boom: invade over. it's fun for a bit, but found myself enjoying other incantations/weapons a bit more for the challenge really like your vids btw- really like your invade style

Maybe most of them aren't the most sweatiest players, but the range of a fully charged Messmer's Orb also catches some people off guard, it is pretty big range. 🙂

I think yes! If you read the comments on a certain side so many are disappointed in the spell and ask for a buff haha man it is so good already! People just need to figure out how to use it. I love that you can go down a pretty big slope with it, it doesn't stop the spell.

Psst, the recovery on the second part of the ashe of war has really good recovery, so good I've been using messmers orb instead to finish the combo, as some people are use to the ashe of war and will try to punish the last part, but this spell catches those people.

Seems like a smart combo and you are right, with Messmer's Spear you don't have to go all the way all the time, the initial fire wave also already is a pretty big move 🙂

Hey man I tried your madness build a found a few ways to optimize it further. Insanely fun and good, especially for pve with the poise damage and the overall damage. If you want to try another goofy setup give the priestess heart a try with all the cultess incantations. Basically every single incant one shots

yes, way better actually when dual wielded at 80 faith. erdtree seal incant scaling is at 353 with 80 faith, fire knight is at 333 with 15% damage at 80 faith , single wield is already slightly better and dual wielding them should put you around 439 incant scaling

It is definitely viable, I would suggest to put most of the points into dex, the spear will do more damage and you get increased casting time. If you feel the build is to "one sided" you can always mix in some Fire Giant incantations.

I knew someone would be sensitive about it. Look at the coinvader in Limgrave (2v2) - I come to his aid and he leaves me alone. Also I only do this after the invasion is over, so why have hard feelings about it? If you talk about the other coinvader "the judge" and "the jury" then you didn't understand they are friends and this is a setup, they are "dueling" when I join the game and then suddenly my fellow red tries to attack me from behind. He later gets resummoned as cooperator.
