What I like the most about this beast is that its lore is so simple and yet so impactful, just like Astel's. It's not an empty husk of a man with a sad backstory or a cruel tyrant driven insane by his thirst of power and turned mad. It's a *fucking alien* that crashed in the Lands Between.

@@gamemaster1608 Yup, and the main reason you can fight Astel after Radahn is that with his death the meteors he was holding back actually crashed in the Lands Between. The amount of details in this game is insanely beautiful.

@@joesheridan9451 Radahn "holding back the stars" is a pretty recent relative to the lore. Ranni is implied to have been born before Radahn stopped the stars from moving since she remembers a time where this was not the case. So, given that, it can be assumed that some aliens did crash in the Lands Between before our player beat Radahn.

The Fallingstar Beasts are actually Baby astels. You can see on the Fully grown, that the Skull face with the eye inside that Astel has is beginning to emerge.

@@Skibbutz if I remember correctly, when seeing the design for the Fallingstar on BonfireVN’s channel, it kinda looks like it has parts of Astel’s head (or it looks like it’s covered up by what looks like fur or white stones). It could also explain the many Astels found in the underground areas even though there aren’t any above ground (as far as I know).

As some have already said this boss resembles an ant lion, but it behaves like an ant lion too. Ant lions hunt by building these cone shaped holes in the ground (the area you fight the boss in is constructed like one). Ant lions also stick their pincers into the sand and fling sand at their prey (the boss does this as well).

They're kinda taking the Monster Hunter approach with this one, taking stuff from real world animals and making it absolutely ludicrous with some fantasy elements. You could argue Monster Hunter is just Pokémon on steroids and far from being the only frenchise to do imaginative realism with their boss but you got the point

Its easy to control the movements/attacks of your enemy once you know enough. You can know how the inputs of the enemy works and control it by learning patterns.

The gravity well and the grab attack are one shot for me unless my HP is full. Luckily I had a powerful Brass Shield and I could get free stab with the Great Epee pretty frequently without risk.

Many Shirrako's videos defeating bosses in this game last no more than a couple of minutes, even the hardest ones. Imo, 8 minutes is the proof that this boss is really though and i dont have any hope ti defeat it with my currently (lack of) skill.

Folks dont realize how "rare" it is to see a horse battle vs this bastard without the scrubby "poison cheese" . Now I can get the Atlas Plateau down to around 20% health but I get too impatient and whiffing my holy blade strikes. I am a pure psy build with a few of my "goto"status weapons: magic, holy, fire, lighting. It got me so far to take down just about every boss from Limgrave, Liurnia and the "last boss" for me at Atlas is this bastard.

If you havent beaten him yet, the best advice i can give is that the safest moment to attack it, is when he does the gravity attacks , they leave him wide open and has to recover from them

I just beat him by staying at the opposite side of the arena as the boss or as far as possible and then the boss would just sit there for a little bit for some reason. I then shot the boss over and over with Loretta's Bow Spell until he ran at me again and then I repeated what I said until death.

Not sure if it actually helps, but Strike weapons like maces and hammers might help here. It’s got a tough, armored hide, so maybe blades won’t be as effective? I used the Morning Star weapon and it did fairly well (though granted, I blasted the monstrosity with Scarlet Rot dragon’s breath and then harassed it with Torrent).
