Fun fact: when Radahn was young, he grew an attachment to the horse he rides on. Eventually he grew bigger to the point where the horse wasnt able to carry him. To counter act this, he learned gravity magic so that no matter how big he got his steed would ride with him to battle. Wholesome story honestly 😭😭

@@Igor_Kru "nah they trivialize the fight lol" summoning all those characters do not "trivialize" the fight. summoning them is not even a sure way to win. you can still lose even if you summon them the lore + gameplay + the design of the entire fight all point to the fact that the game developers expect you to summon the other characters. you don't HAVE to because, of course, you have the free will to choose, but everything about the game and the fight (even the characters' dialogue after the fight) suggests that it's not wrong/trivializing if you do use the summon signs.

Not sure if other people have said this, but the emote issue is caused by motion controls being enabled (Triangle + a specific controller jiggle). Disable motion controls and that issue completely goes away.

Lore wise it makes sense there's like 9 people needed to fight. Malenia acts like she's this undefeated monster but radahn genuinely was washing her. Her only reason for winning was rot. To which he face tanked it to protect his horse 😭 The absolute madlad will go to hell and back for his horse. Even in his insane, rotted stated he refuses to harm his buddy. He's probably the biggest Chad in all of souls, right there with artorias, the sif protector

Radahn is a cool character his outfit and his hair represent people he admires because they are strong. He also was given that horse as a gift and now that he has grown he learned gravity spells so he can lower his weight so he can continue riding the horse. It’s also said that Radahn or the other guy announcing created the festival since Radahn is just rotting in the inside he wants to die but he wants to die honorably in a fight since he’s a warrior.

This is one of the greatest boss fights in video game history. Even down to the supporting lore details. Like, for example his intro cutscene shows him riding this creepy looking horse, but then you read some item descriptions and you find out that Radahn initially learned gravity sorcery as a way to lessen the burden caused to his loyal horse. Which he still manages to do despite his current bestial state. Just an absolute masterpiece of a fight. Its frustrating i know man, but just embrace it. This is what we wanted, bosses that will truly challenge us to our limits. Imagine what a Rune Level 1 run is gonna be like.

Afro honestly did better than I thought he would. He actually learned the combos and most of the time, dodged them effectively. The summons just make the fight cooler in my opinion. This is one of my favorite fights in the game just because I got to fight alongside Alexander and Blaidd against the titanic Radahn. Good luck Afro with future attempts

This particular fight is tuned with the idea you will use the summons in the boss arena. They are all NPC's, they can be resummoned after they die, and you can summon like 7 of them as opposed to just the normal 2.

Depends on reason though. Some people genuinely like the challenge. I love fighting a boss for 3 hours and the satisfaction I get afterwards. I wouldn't tell someone not to use summons or how to play, but obviously it makes the fights way easier. Same reason i stopped doing co op was because it ruined the reason I play these games.

Hey Afro, just a small tip for you! When you have your consumables in your inventory and hold down on the d pad you'll automatically swap to the item in the first slot. You have your own personal summon for the rest of the game. It is a resource to be used to help you overcome a challenge and people should not be downed for using it. Cause then where do you draw the line? Summon too op, can't use that. Moonveil too op can't use that. Night and flame too op can't use that. The souls community is probably the most toxic when it comes to gatekeeping how one plays. Not you specifically but in general. This community has somehow created this toxic mindset of shunning those who use resources because they're powerful. Like really think how barbaric that sounds. Imagine if in any other game, they ignored the meta because it was too good. That makes no sense. The Miquella’s Unalloyed Gold Needle and even the Haligtree itself were made to cure Malenia and free her from that Outer God. The prosthetics are stronger than any human, but Malenia is an Empyrean. She’s meant to be stronger than any human from the start, so having limbs that match her old form in power doesn’t mean much when they can be detached easier than her original limbs would have been. And the coma was her needing to recover from the fight with Radahn. She didn’t slumber to regain her full strength, she was in a coma from the moment she bloomed, through Finlay fighting armies dragging her unconscious body to the Haligtree all the way to the moment the Tarnished steps through the door. Radahn and the aftereffects of blooming kicked her ass so hard she didn’t wake up for years, potentially decades or even centuries. So when I say that fighting Malenia is effectively jumping a crippled coma patient, that’s just me calling it how I see it.

Anyone trying to go without summons here's a tip, getting on and off the horse by using the ring rather than jumping off gives you a ton of s. Stop rolling and fully embrace the bloodhound step, you always get hit when you roll. Level your mana and get more flasks and come back. Also the bloodhound step has a few disadvantages. When trying to swoop back twice and you are locked on it can happen that you swoop back and for, or left and right, to avoid this lock of swoop away and drink.

As much as I've been loving this playthrough, I understand the pain of this WALL of a beast XD It took me literally a whole day, learning his movements, having to alter my strat, use things that I've never thought of using before to get some sort of advantage, but no matter what I would just die and die again. The person who was in charge of this particular boss fight was a complete sadist or just thought "Oh you thought the Orphan of Kos was tough? Get a load of this." as he hands their beer to one of the other employees. In the end, after a hard ass clutch and with RNG on my side, he was finally done and I could move on. I was literally shaking after I saw that "slained" title on my screen. And even though, I am glad that hardship is over...he wasn't the toughest boss in the game. No...there is another, one that stood against Radahn one-on-one, who turned him into who he is now. And Afro, if you're reading this, I wish you all the luck in the future of this game. The journey will be long, it will be tough, and the road be shrouded in fog, but she awaits for you.

If one doesn't find the struggle or learning experience enjoyable, then that's fine. doesn't make you any less of a player, but it will always make players like me sad, because you don't know unless you try. that leads to toxicity which is the unhealthiest solution to say what you wanna say. The art of a fight is a lot of fun, it's no coincidence that I as a souls player got into fighting games either. It's all about the learning experience and feeling your knowledge grow as you master each step bit by bit, it's pure and simple yet so enjoyable. That's not something that comes to everyone at a glance, it's learned, through trial and tribulation until it just clicks, and you start having so much fun. In the end through the guise of toxicity and douche talk, that's what they want everyone to experience.

Also for the emote I would honestly recommend just taking them off by removing them from your emote inventory, hope the tip helps, I really love your content and besides seeing how stressed the anger from rage games like this one makes you I really do love the content, especially when you’re doing really good and you hype yourself up

Nah, leave the emotes there in case he ever does multiplayer again, just turn off motion controls, that's what activates them, not the triangle button

The valstrax mechanic was so awesome when I first got destroyed by it, then I learned torrent is how you dodge it and you resummon everyone and it was all good. Such a good feeling fight, really I don't think it should've been any other way for essentially the physically strongest of all the shardbearers. I also love how he is super wholesome in canon but he's just had his brain rotted by Melania. Learned all that gravity magic just to be able to ride the horse he loved so much.

Hate to backseat game but A) if you turn of motion controls you will stop emoting (My brother was having the same problem) B) if you rest at a bonfire and go to great tunes you can equip the great runs you got from Goodrich which will boost your stats C) because you were locked on, your character will dodge in correlation with the targeted enemy Also great video and may you continue on your journey to become the Elden Lord :)

Pretty sure you need to activate great runes with a rune arc first

afro, this fight was DESIGNED to use the summons u can literally summon the same NPCs infinite times its designed to be like a raid boss. u not summoning is making the fight 10X harder for yourself
