This is the best boss of DLC a living powerhouse dragon that has gone through many battles and it’s still standing even though it has lost its left leg and wings and it’s orange fire lightning powers make it a force to be reckoned with. I love Midir and Placidusax, but Bayle might be FS's most perfect dragon boss fight. Mechanically, I found it to be the most refined fight of the three. They really took the whole 'focus on the dragon's head' concept to its extreme, and to brilliant effect. He's hard af, but there's consistent, and satisfying, flow to the fight. Too many BIG FS bosses lack a consistent flow (you spend too much time running, or weaving behind their legs, etc.). With Bayle there's a real duel element. You stay on him, and he stays on you. It's the same basic design philosophy as Midir, but scaled up to Elden Ring's fidelity/splendor. That having been said, Midir still gets brownie points for being a good boy, and Placidusax has the best entrance of any FS boss imo.

This boss is the perfect example of what I call trying too hard. To make it a challenge worthy of Malenia, they added unavoidable AOE attacks, unpredictable due to the poor camera management, which makes the encounter even more random. It's the classic boss you can beat on the third attempt or the 300th. Very scenic, sure, its lore is beautiful, and the character of Igon is also splendid, but its moveset and the overall design of the fight are too randomic. It felt like playing a Monster Hunter game made artificially difficult, and when I beat it, I felt no satisfaction.

A running theme here is that every ultimate Dragon Boss battle up until this point is always compromised in some way: -Black Dragon Kalameet was shot out of the Skies by Hawkeye Gough -Sinh the Slumbering Dragon was impaled through the Chest by Sir Yorgh -Darkeater Midir was corrupted and driven mad by the Abyss -and Dragonlord Placidusax and Bayle over here mangled each other so badly, it speaks only for the hardiness of the Ancient Dragons that they are both still alive and kicking despite their wounds

I love the lore that surrounds this thing. For a long time, a lot of people believed it was Godfrey that wounded Placidusax due to him defeating the "Storm Lord" (many believed that was Placi), only for the Dragon Priestess to tell us that it was Bayle here that put him in such a wounded state. And to further confirm it, Bayle has mutiple of Placidusax's heads STILL clinging to him. Looks as though Placi attemped to wrap his necks around Bayle and bit him, only for Bayle to somehow break away and sever them all. Based on his wounds however, it's clear their battle wasn't one sided.

Does anyone else see that Bayle is similar to both the ancient and modern dragons in this game? He has 2 legs, other two are his wings, is able to breathe fire and idk if it is just me, but throughout the fight his calls sound like the modern dragons as well as the fact that Bayle doesn't have the iconic gravel scales as the ancient dragons. On the other hand he is able to use lightning(infused with fire) and have the power to rival, maybe even beat Placi. I don't even have the faintest idea what is going on when he summons a pair of wings halfway through the fight... On a different note his model is extremely different from any dragon in the game. The head resembles Midir (as well as reminds me of Mohg with all of the extra horns), his movements and animations in this state somewhat look like that of the dragonkin soldiers and his overall stature is like nothing else I remember seeing in any other game. I also find it very interesting that his wingtips(legs idk) are pointed like spears.(Could make a cool second grab attack) Whenever using lightning he prioritizes use of the right wing(it's more dagger-like). I wish this character had more lore. This is the height of from software boss design and i bet like 90% of the things i said will never mean anything but come one. I've seen many people say the dlc bosses are underwhelming and weak, but HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT with boss design like this.... My ONLY concern with this fight is how the tail swipe feels misplaced. If the animation was slowed a bit it would look much more fluent.

@@jonasfadi8213 It is. There is zero build up to Radahn/Miquella in the base game and Miquella had more connection to Godwyn. He literally created a sword for Godwyn and the description says he humbly prayed for Godwyn while also addressing him as “Lord Brother”. There’s a statue in the Haligtree where Godwyn is depicted as comforting the young twin prodigies. The main game hyped up Miquella as this genius who created unalloyed needles to banish the influence of Outer Gods. His cut contents even alludes to that and it was about the Age of Abundunce and makes no references to Radahn at all. St Trina was also supposed to play a bigger role but in the dlc she’s just reduced to a background NPC. And now the DLC out of nowhere reveals that Miquella just wants Radahn as his consort. Radahn/Miquella is awful and lame. No build up and feels like a shallow fanservice. You’re just another typical Fromsoft simp that refuses to accept criticisms and will defend shit like their life depends on it.

​@@oria322 nobody cares about the lore tho 💀💀💀💀. The radhan/ miquella fight is the best fight mechanically and honestly a top 5 from soft boss. Also the lore does make sense. Miquella wanted godwyn to be his consort. Godwyn died so he chose radhan. It explains my malenia was send to kill radhan by miquella. Before we had no idea why she fought radhan just theories. Radhan needed to die to go to the land of shadows. Malenia was sent there to give him his death. It also explains why mogh had miquella. Miquella manupilated him and usd him to get to the land of shadows. Radhan made a vow with miquella to be his consort. He wanted to die in war so malenia was sent to give him a battle of his lifetime. But he didn't die and he went mad by the scarlet rot. Which is why we need to kill him to access the dlc along with mogh who's body is used as a puppet to Harbour radhans soul and miquella controls both. All of this makes sense. Idk what you're complaining about

I beat this guy on NG+10, +10 or so Scadutree Fragments, two summons, with Igon and my Mimic, sorcery, ancient dragon lightning strike, dragon-killing greatkatana, 70 Vigor, 90 strength, 60 dex, 60 int, 56 faith, 50 endurance, 50 mind, Crimson Amber Medallion + 3, Erdtree Favor + 2, Dragoncrest Greatshiled Talisman and Morgott's Great Rune and this big bastard still took me 5 hours, maybe even 6, yeah no doubt this guy is harder than Malenia. I had no flasks left at the end, had like 200 HP left, in one-shot range by the way, and I managed to used the Ash of War and actually won. I've never been as hyped as I was until my Elden Ring DLC was installed, I'm going to celebrate it tomorrow by myself.

Tbh this boss isn't hard, he's just dumb, the amount of powerful attacks he can spam without resting or something is just bad, I liked the fight but half of the time I died with 9 estus while he had 20-30% hp. He doesn't even stay in the ground to me when his hp is that low. It's just like Malenia fight, a lot of people can destroy her, but then she uses waterfowl dance. The thing is, every atk from this mf is a waterfowl dance, especially at low level scadutree.

@@phuminhnguyenhe didn’t create the ancient dragons. He betrayed the Dragon Lord, both being gravely injured. Bayle fled the fight and eventually his offspring became the lesser dragons(wyvern). Dragon communion cult hates bayle and his offspring so they eat their hearts as revenge for the betrayal. This was all data-mined for me.

It seems, Bayle doesn't use its "laser" attacks when you fought it 🤔 I couldn't evade that properly and always loses the fight xD (well, started in NG+7 though)

Dodge-roll spam looks so ridiculous. Who would ever actually fight like that. you'd be so dizzy you wouldn't be able to stand. This game has awful combat mechanics to where dodge-roll spam is the only option 99% of the time,

This was easily the HARDEST BOSS IN ELDEN RING. This shit took me over 60 tries. Malenia is an ant on the sidewalk compared to Bayle. My second hardest boss in all of souls with number one being Sister Friede which took me 4 DAYS of attempting (at least over 300 attempts) Edit: I just fought Prime Radahn for at least 3 hours and now I can confidently say that Radahn has taken the crown for being THE HARDEST BOSS IN ALL OF SOULS-LIKE HISTORY. (Seriously though he’s absolutely insane)

I found that Boss far too late. I had +15 Scadutree blessing, and +10 Dragonwound slash makes him even in NG+ somewhat easy. But the spectacle was breathtaking and after eating his heart my character will become the ultimate Magmawyrm in a few decades.

There's literally no guide for NG+8. All his attacks are one shotting and no one knows how to dodge his lazer attack. Im loosing my mind. I want to give this DLC an S but the difficult and imbalances are holding it back

This is what worked for me. For the laser, don't lock onto him for the first part, and dodge into it on the left since it goes left to right. It's actually a lot like dodging the sort of curvy fire breath attack, just that he's up in the air. For the second part, it's technically two attacks, it's the laser itself, and then lightning will strike where the laser was. Dodge into the laser (towards Bayle as he flies toward you) then dodge to the side multiple times to avoid the lightning on the floor.
