The passive on the blasphemous blade also works if you equip it off hand and two hand your main weapon. That means rivers of blood with a passive healing effect or any other weapon so even if you're not currently using it, it's still useful

I would recommend trying the godslayers greatsword, malikeths blade, and the godskin peeler, the godskin weapons really shine with there ashes, and they are easy to use.

Hey idk if someone has said this, but the Bloodhounds Blade has a two part active ability, if you use your strong attack button right after casting it’s ability, you’ll do like a veiled invisible dash-slash move thing. You can dodge attacks with it as well.

Easily A tier. I sometimes switch it out for keen hookclaws though, particularly when i need quicker attacks. And i have two different keen maces for enemies weak to strike. Dex build with 12 str, working on getting my arcane to 44-45 for bleed buildup procs.

The Bloodhound’s Fang is easily my favorite weapon in this game. I’m still using it as my primary weapon and it shreds health bars! What makes this sword really badass is that the Finesse ability has two parts to it’s attack; the backflip flurry move, and then pressing the right trigger again will teleport/dash you forward for another attack. It’s sick! Definitely deserves to be A tier!

It definitely takes some getting used to though, and Vs certain slippery or hyper aggressive enemies(e.g. Alecto, Ancient Hero of Zamor) you will only get the first part off & if you try to do the 2nd you will whiff and possibly get *heavily* punished

The eclipse shotel likely didn't proc its death effect because the death status is only effective against tarnished, like other players and npcs that are basically modified player characters.

The reason it got rated so highly is it could be used to exploit a bug where the "fire's deadly sin" incantation would apply the status ailments of the weapon you were holding, meaning you could inflict curse on players without attacking.

Sure I understand where he's coming from but as much as early game you like to have a weapon that performs good right out the box, mid-to-late-game you SHOULD be building your character around your weapon and playstyle overall. You SHOULD infuse the weapon with the proper affinity (and skill of your liking). You SHOULD build synergies like adding frost to an innate-bleed weapon or stack bleed on top or level arcane for a bleed build or whatever. You'll struggle if you don't somewhat commit/respec properly later game. That's also kind of why so many weapons or builds are said to be OP to this day : if you build around a lot of weapons, they become disgustingly good. Then again there are some that are just easy mode I agree.

I would definitely have put the Bloodhound Fang in A tier. I've played almost the entire game with it. Every time I try to use a different weapon I get destroyed and end up going back to the Fang. It's easy to use, does good damage, does bleed damage and can be acquired at the very beginning of the game.

It was working for me too until I realize how the bleed dmg works with and how arcane stat affects to it. It was very long test but it was worth to me. Fang now is a garbage especially in pvp (very slow animations).

Marais Executioner’s sword isn’t a bleed weapon. It’s weapon art become very scary with talimans that increase attack with successive strikes. Each spin of the corkscrew counts as an attack. It melts most enemies and often causes enemy stagger

A huge thing that didn’t really get mentioned here is the ability of many weapon arts to stagger. Idk the exact stats, but arts like moonveils vertical slash or bloodhound fang’s art do a TON of stagger damage. Moonveils ability to stagger with that move makes it such a versatile weapon, since it’s attack speed is so quick one handed as well

A complete gamechanger for my glass canon astrologer. Makes it easy for me to do work at melee range but still helps you to avoid being hit because it also pushes a lot of enemies back i.e. those golden knights, even if it doesnt stagger

Nice video. Things to consider for future videos like this: 1. In Elden ring you have weapon stat scaling which is different and definitely impacts a weapons viability late game 2. Ashes of War placed on normal weapons can rival legendaries without a problem so good idea to compare for example a uchigatana +25 and moon veil 3. Would be nice to have more numbers on screen like damage values and impact of resistances

For weapons yes, for bosses, sadly I can't fully agree. Too many bosses in this game are not unique enough. They are cool and they have cool lore, but overall most are hard hitting extremely large enemies that are somehow also super fast for how large they are. I think Renalla is one of the most unique just in how her fight works and that is my point. Most bosses are tanks and you have to tank them to beat them. I know other souls games have a lot more variety in types of bosses or mechanics within the fight to make them more interesting. But I think they made bosses this way because of summons, most fights are designed around you having summons to distract it seems.

I think the BHF is insane cause it has prolly one of the best scalings in the game, gains a huge amount from dex and also from strength, but while its AoW is strong, it isnt that easy to use as others in this list, which are easily spamable and chip the health of bosses down in seconds. The BHF is imo the best weapon if you want to come as close to a traditional soulslike experience as possible, aside from the colossal swords and weapons maybe.

I'm currently in my first playthrough and I ended up doing a mostly pure sorcery build. Moonveil is easily the best weapon I've used so far. Close to the endgame got it to +9 (60 INT) and it's special ability does so much damage and has great range. It's been more than adequate against every boss I've come across (just picked up second half of secret medallion in the giant's mountain realm).

I like your take on the “overpowered” trend, and not basing the weapon on specific builds. I wouldn’t dedicate a build to a specific weapon, I like using a variety of weapons on a build. Black blade is also a necessity on my faith build. Dual coded swords for most mobbing (recommend a look), but for bosses the black blade usually comes out.

The Bloodhound Fang is my favourite weapon in this game, easy. I tried all kinds of different weapons and had varying levels of success, but I can beat virtually everything with ease with the fang. Bloodhound Finesse is a seriously underrated ability.

I've had my fair share of success against Rivers of Blood users too, especially if they just spam the weapon art. Some people never expect the follow up attack and it just wrecks them.

But then I wanted to try different builds and boy, the Rivers of Blood build with Lifesteal and stacking atrack power is just bonkers and shreds through basically all enemies and bosses except Radagon\Elden Beast (since they're immune to Blood Loss) and Crucible Knights (because they basically can't get staggered).

I think if you had touched on the second half of the bloodhound fang's special move, you would have moved it up to A tier. If you follow up with the right trigger after the jump back, you flash back forward with another heavy hit. I haven't found another weapon that lets you control your engagement with the ai as easily, and I consistently catch invaders with their pants down with the follow up.

The L2 is easy to parry and rolling forward the L2 is useless. It is a good weapon for killing noobs but it is not especially good. Other ashes of war can punish the second part of the L2

Blasphemous Sword: the Takers Flame ability also heals you. This is super convenient and more relevant in my opinion than the heal you get from kills

The radahn greatswords are also insanely good. I got mine fairly early and haven't looked back, it shreds everything. The ability is great for aoe and rune farming, as well as most bosses, not to mention you get a second sword for free when you 2 hand it

my favorite is the serpent hunter, the fight against rykard with this thing is just so epic. Yes after the boss fight it’s battle art is useless, but it still the highest AR great Spear with a pure strength build. Since I like to use shield crash on my greatshield anyways so it isn’t really that big of a deal. Most importantly, it just looks cool.

As strength build in all FS games, the Ruins Greatsword is probably one of the best since it’s S scaling and the skill does crazy damage not to mention how far it goes. I think basing it just on requirements is a little silly especially if you’re 80+ strength doing 1000 damage per swing

Blood hound fang and Moon veil (even nerfed) are absolutely S tiers. I must say that if you are using a weapon you have to build for it. You can not say that a weapon is not as good because it has high str/dex/int requirement. Also i have to comment that almost everyone is talking about special weapons but some of the best weapons in the game are normal weapons especially those who can bleed since until it is nerfed bleed is king right now.

A common graveyard scythe did so much in my first 3rd of the game. Walked around stormveil castle to find it randomly and started making bosses drop. Long range bleed and added the dash ash of war to it.

Bolt of Gransax is easily S tier. It's a sniper cannon with incredible range. it knocks players and bosses like Malenia onto the ground. You can choose how long you charge the special as well. Regular attack with shield up. With the right stats it's a howitzer. Also, Blasphemous Blade gives you a big heal when the special ability hits each target. Death's Poker is missed from the list. A to S tier frost weapon.

if you use the FP gain on kills talisman as well, you're gonna get colorful animations on kills LOL. The effect when you get runes from kills is gold/white. getting HP is red and getting FP is blue. When you have all, it becomes very festive :) The medallion for FP you get from the regal ancestor remembrance.

That second part of the bloodhound blade is what makes it so good honestly, the first part doesn't give you that much of a dodge.. but the second part packs a punch. Also it can be buffed since its pure physical, making it great for hybrid builds with sorcery or incantation buffs.

Ruins Greatsword is S tier and I won't hear any other argument. It CARRIED me through most bosses in the game. If you're a STR build of any kind, it's a must have for clearing multiple enemies at a time and bosses.

Bloodhound's Fang and Fallingstar Beast Jaw carried me all the way thru the game. Once I got passed the Fire Giant I always equipped my mimic with the Bloodhound Fang and kept a safe distance and wrecked every boss with the Fallingstar Beast Jaw special move

Wing of Astel was an easy S tier for me. Used it until the end of the game on my mage build. It scales well with int and the ash of war being able to stagger bosses really helped so much. Arguably one of the best weapons in the game in my opinion

Never used it until the last boss, I was SHOCKED of the damage, literally melted the boss I was dying on for days. Thank god someone had commented under a video he used that weapon. I'm not even really build to do max damage with this one but it worked wonders

The ashe is very good, yes. But there's also the fact that the blue wave is FREE, you don't use FP for that. You can use it by pushing the trigger or use the charge animation (the stagger on this is awesome too). Both are great and useful. It's great to minimize your need to replenish your FP and clear dungeons with it.

Both the sword of night and flame and the moonveil are available relatively early and up to the point where you reach leyndell they are S tier egen after the patch. Morgott is the first boss that will start to feel a bit challenging with either of those. Use the hookclaws until you get either of the swords. Lvl 1 hookclaws melt even godrick.

I don't think the Sword of Night and Flame is S tier worthy at all. Pre nerf it was but now its maybe A tier more likely B tier. It lost 60% of its damage and the range was taken down to almost melee distance. They probably didn't want it competing with Comet Azur and tried making it weaker because newer players were finding it and since it has low stat requirements they could rofl stomp the entire game with it. Now the way it is it's risky to use the Night Azur because you have to be so close and in order for it to do decent damage now requires a heavy investment of stats across at least 2 stats. It's just better to get Comet Azur instead. If one does make a build around the Sword of Night and Flame post nerf it can do ok but even with that it'll still only be B or A Tier compared to what other weapons can do and their damage output.

@@Darth1Marik SNF didn't lost 60%, it's around 25% and 30% range, the sword is still amazing, comet azur is better, but that should be the case from the start. I would say the weapon is still S because of the versatility of the weapon art, fast and easy to use. A is probably fair, but definitely not B

@@K.youran It's been tested multiple times it lost more then half of its max damage previously with all buffs and talismans and physick flask. Maybe by itself base the number is lower but most people never use a weapon as is everyone uses buffs and those tests revealed it lost 60% of its damage. The range is absolutely pitiful too. It's kind of moot to debate anyways since no one uses it anymore because of the nerf.

I straight face tanked the godskin duo with the blasphemous blade and golden vow. Made sure to land the special so I hit both of them and I could easily out heal.most of their damage with minimal dodging.

I'm suprised there wasn't the Death's Poker weapon, one of its special abilities is really nice both on bosses and groups of enemies because it creates an area of black flames that stay up for a few seconds and it also builds up frost

Wing of Astel is so good it made me give up moonveil. Magic projectile when using R2 (no FP cost) and the weapon art staggers and kills bosses quickly.

Once again, the Bloodhound Fang is slept on. The L2 R2 combo is insanely strong and very often staggers and or bleeds. I tried the Moonveil Katana, I made a claw build, and Blasphemous blade. I ended up respeccing back to my Bloodhound build because its simply a very strong weapon. Definite A tier weapon.

Even with the nerf Moonveil is still amazing for PvE, I respec’d for it after beating rennala and it got Me through almost the rest of the game; and because it scales with INT using it with a staff off hand really makes you well rounded and can fight any type of enemy

Even after patch 1.03 I had to stop using it because of how good it is. It still staggers really well and hits like a truck. It’s got excellent AOE and single target damage. Easily S tier. Sword of Night and Flame is the same way. Still one of the best weapons in the game. Hoarfrost stomp is still excellent too.

I'm noticing as you do this list that many of these weapons have a lot of power you don't quite go into. I've played a lot of Ruins Great Sword, and that thing can basically stunlock bosses with your mimic (huge poise break), or double proc against larger enemies with its AW if you position right. It's a monster weapon, and the crouch light / dodge light is great in pvp and pve if you want speedy attacks. The cool thing I'm seeing from your video: despite weapons only having a few moves the expression a player can take with many of the weapons in this game and souls in general seems pretty deep. There is no way RGS is not a fantastic weapon to me, but I played that thing for hours upon hours and we all approach weapons differently. Some weapons are obviously really easy to use and stupid stronk, but it's just sweet that RGS or pretty much any weapon can be really strong based on the player who use it.

I agree that the Ruin greatsword is more or less must have on a strength build since it makes duo, or more, boss-fights much easier. It's weaponart has really good poise damage and it scales well with strength and only minimal int investment. It's not as cool as running with powerstance Greatswords but damn. Its utility is not bad!

Quick note about a couple weapons: Marais doesn't do bleed, it just scales with arcane. It's skill can also be charged to make it do more damage for longer. Bloodhound (already saw people mention the second skill attack so I don't need to mention that) is one of the only somber upgrades that can be buffed with spells so overall it's damage can get very high on a dex build that can cast weapon buffs, i.e. bloodflame blade and the like.

This list is pretty good, but i kinda disagree with bloodhound's fang being in B tier. I have played through the entirety of my ng+ and i can say that this weapon deserves a low-mid A tier. It has great AR on itself, but what makes it shine is the weapon art. You've got a combination of good damage, colossal weapon jump R2 attack stance damage, and the dodge, while mostly not working because of how fast the lategame bosses are, can sometimes still help you dodge some of the attacks. Personally i have found myself having a lot more fun using this than rivers of blood, while still being able to melt bosses by spamming.

Great video! I'm subbed because I like your content. I recently used reduvia against millicent sisters and the big rot dude before them and it was a life saver. Not sure if it got buffed or what but it was sweet. I do think the accuracy and cast speed could be better though. Also I main a rivers of blood with an uchikatana in my off-hand due to it having bleed of 110 before buff(I have sepuku ash on it) so when I L1 and swing with both ROB and Uchi, it's devastating. Easy S, both for PvE and PvP (thank god most PvP users of this weapon just brain deadly spams L2, R2 but in the right hands is really hard to counter). Still procs bleed better than a non bleed infused uchigatana or any other katana (else RoB).

Here some tips bro. Prepare your flask. Make sure your runes is used before fighting bosses (for level up or anything). Learn boss attack patterns, they will hit you with normal swing and sometimes fast swing attack, you need to dodge with correct timing (not too fast or slow). Wait for him finish casting or attacking then hit him with jump or roll strike. You must not run or dodge in a whole fight, calm yourself. Try to hit after dodges even with some light attack, but do continuously. Perform strong attack if you have a chance. That's it.

I would honestly put the falling star beast jaw in a category of this. The weapon art is absolutely amazing at single targets and bosses because it does amazing poise damage to everything. Most big enemies get staggered for a repost in 2 hits and the weapon art itself does a good chunk of damage

Playing against a moonveil in pvp is still a challenge for me, because it both comes out fast and can be either horizontal or vertical. Contrast with rivers of blood, which animation locks my opponent, can be reasonably parried, and doesn't leave a machine gun in form of a casting staff in their left hand. I actually don't think RoB is overpowered, but moonveil is very strong. Just my opinion.

Bloodhound Fang is my most used weapon. It's low requirement, can deal lots of damage, bloodloss passive, and its Left Trigger allows more maneuverability in tight spaces.I've taken out half of the bosses in my playthrough(new player) with just that weapon.

The blood hound fang can also do another attack after your the the back flip, you hold right trigger and you do a teleport heavy attack

The moonveil did get nerfed, but it is still a top tier weapon. The weapon skill used to do 12.5 poise damage if the beam hit and an additional 15 or 17.5 for light or heavy if the blade also connected. The nerf removed the extra poise damage from the blade hitting, so it does only 12.5 poise damage no matter what. This is just over a 50% decrease in max poise damage, which can be significant

dont forget that the Bloodhounds Fang has a 2nd step to its LT attack which bloodhound steps you forward again followed by a huge uppercut. To use it, LT, then as soon as you roll out, RT to phase forward.. does huge damage

In my entire run I used two of the blades (so one blade in every hand) from the hawks with the blades on their feets. I loved to play with it and made insane damage.
