You don't need to go to the roundtable hold to apply ashes of war, you can just get the item that's down the staircase at the place where you get torrent. That lets you apply ashes of war at any grace. It's called the whetstone knife.

For the Crystal Boss, if you pick up the Iron Balls from the necklace thief, they would do more damage than swords. They are great for any of the crystal cave mobs early on. You plow thru them gathering smithing stones

you dont have to kill any boss to get to the round table or even to the gate of the city you just have to go to calid or the lake to get to the round table and you can get to the city gate by going through a cave system that is located at the end of the little river next to the grand lift

Just to add a correction to your instructions, White Mask does not appear at Rose Church until AFTER you defeat Godrick so you have to complete Stormveil (so not something you can do "from the start").

perfumer's cave works better for the skip to crumbling city. all you do is fast travel the grace site and exit game. when you reload you'll be over there.

You need a sword and keep swinging it. Takes about 40-50 swings for the first set of runes and about 10-20 more swings to get the second smaller group of runes. Swinging is a must or it doesn’t happen
