India doesn't have that many nursing homes per capita, there's instead just staying with the family, ancestral homes...but that makes even less sense. If they assume the old person is staying with someone, that heightens the odds the scam would be exposed.

Definitely just lying on both fronts. A Uber driver wouldn't park so far away, and If he didn't understand English or speak it he'd have an app to help with the language barrier. There's a person in one of my college classes who has to use their phone to understand anything. Who is working for Uber while be unable to speak English, and doesn't use an app for translation?

As a mandarin speaker myself, the reason google translate wasn't working for them was because either was mumbling his words or speaking another dialect. I couldn't understand part of what he was saying. Only that he came here to [sounding like he was saying retrieve] [untranslatable]. Overall, I think he started mumbling half way while he was saying retrieve. (or just didn't specify what he was retrieving) Mandarin is often considered the hardest language to translate to as the dialect is so different, and you rarely are able to translate things word for word unless you're fine speaking in very broken English and Mandarin. Translating any language is already an exhausting process, so its no surprise they have trouble finding someone to translate Mandarin for them.

When I worked in the pharmacy we had a language line that we called and they had a person that spoke every language to translate. We would just hand the customer the phone and they translated for us. I believe my employer just paid per call. Maybe they could look into something like late.

As for his “I don’t speak English” shtick, I’m sure he does (maybe not too well) or how would he be able to make a living as an Uber driver when most likely he’d be picking up English speaking passengers (or considering this is LA perhaps a primary Spanish speaker who speaks some English).

Pressuring an elderly man about to have surgery (supposedly) to put a large amount of cash and a shoe in a box with aluminum foil and go to Fedex and hurry up,😡Ashton made me laugh out loud with his comments😆 "One shoe"? It's a common practice in havala operations. A currency bill is torn into 2 pieces & each party is given a piece, the cash is handed over only when the 2 pieces fit correctly.
