GNAAL (The taglharpa) was rewarded new strings yesterday. Changed from horse hair to B50 Dacron archery line. To keep it more trustworthy when it comes to staying tuned.
Still a bit too fresh, but it sounds like a taglharpa.
Strands of bow line pr. string: 7-9 and 11
Tuning: d-A-D

I am hooked. It's like a hurdy-gurdy but without the mechanical noise, but with a much less cheerful sound. It really gives me a dreadful feeling like you're on a boat, looking at the land from a distance in medieval times, knowing you're about to set foot there for a blood bath. Many lives will be lost. Kind of a reluctant "this is what we signed up for. It must be done" kind of feeling. Very, very cool instrument, and very very well played.

absolutely insane that you'd describe it like that... I use this song on repeat when I'm doing knee rehab, acl reconstruction and lateral/medial meniscus sutures done in one operation... a rehab that has consumed everything. I started from no weight bearing, 16 months ago, to my regular runs that are between 6-12 miles now. I have 2 sony speakers connected in stereo on either side bottle pocket on my running bag, so it plays in surround sound and encapsulates me as I teleport through this world on a leg held together by screws. An elective surgery, I could've done what most non-pro athletes do and call it quits at 23, knee replaced in my 30s or whatever. But i chose a gruesome mutilation, and since it's a choice I made to be reconstructed and work day and night... up to 10 hours a day, over 570 days now, to regain my athleticism, i must put in the work. I would literally be jogging in place at red lights begging for a break for just 10 seconds while this would be playing, saying to myself "it's not a choice. this is the life i begged my surgeon for, it needs to be done. I signed the contracts saying i agreed to this grotesque life of a reconstruct and the work required to come back. it must be done no matter the sacrifice, i will die before i stop this work ...." the light turns green and i explode off the reconstructed leg into a sprint towards the abyss. It's been so long i'm not even sure what I'm runnign towards, i just hear this and know that my orders are to keep going into the darkness and I've come to love the purpose and drive it's given me. amazing that we hear this the same way. this is the anthem of those who are working dark nights for brighter days, head down, in the mud, soaked in rain and sweat, eyes stained in misery, doing what needs to be done for a better future. let's fucking go soldiers
@pumello
@pumello Жыл бұрын
@@zu5277 I'm not even sure what to say to that. I knew leg surgeries were tough stuff but damn. Part of me wants to celebrate cause someone thinks the way i do about this song, and another wants to give you a hug. Hope those brighter days comes around sooner rather than later yeah?

Very interesting to hear you use B50 Dacron! How many strands do you use for each of the notes? With the upper D being an octave higher I wonder if the tension is different enough to warrant using say two 16 strands and then a 14 or 12 strand line.
