September 29, 2012 - In a highly anticipated matchup between 3A and 4A State Powers, the Titans recorded two second half goals to defeat the Eleanor Roosevelt Radiers 2-0 at Tuscarora on Saturday evening. 2011 Class 4A State Semifinalists, Eleanor Roosevelt is a past State Champion and perennial state contender in the 4A playoffs.
The Titans created numerous chances and controlled play in the first half, but failed to convert leaving the game knotted at zero at halftime. The Titans continued to apply pressure in the second half and finally got it right in the 63rd minute when senior Emily Marshall laid a ball back to junior back Allison Adams on the right flank. Adams drove a bending ball across the box which found junior forward Greysen Lingg who brought the ball down and beat the Raider keeper from six yards on her second touch.
The Titans increased their lead in the 72nd minute when Marshall fed senior Aaran Parry who brought the ball down off her chest and beat the Raider keeper on a half volley from 15 yards out to put the game out of reach at 2-0. Sophomore goalkeeper Meghan Laser recorded the shutout.
