My first impression of this course is that there is a LOT of fluff, almost like it's not meant for people actually pursuing a career in the field. That "guarantee" he mentioned in the first video is just marketing wank without the number on how many grads actually find permanent work.

Chapter 6 was re-engineering alien technology and was deleted by the government.

He is great teacher and has practical experience. I know the basics but his examples make the lecture very interesting and lucid. Thank you David .

Chapter 6 was not done by lecture but by a video assignment he gave his students. I think the chapter was regarding measuring equipment.

I'm trying to absorb this whole series as personal education, really nothing more. I've always been very studious and had many excellent teachers, so I can tell the good ones from the bad. I see many people here commenting about how good this guy is, and really, he's not. We do most everything we do with money in mind: Need to get a better job so we can earn more..., go get a good college education and go into all kinds of debt to get it, why? To get the good job..., we always look for the least expensive stuff..., and on and on. There's another way of dealing with the never-ending quest to have a better life via our use of money, and that's the use of our time. We can get much, much more out of life with better management of our time: You do things more efficiently, you effectively make more money, because generally what we sell (either our labor or a product) has a certain value that people just won't pay more for. So if you can do things in less time, you'll effectively have more money. More time equals more you can do in your life, perhaps doing more things yourself, instead of paying someone to do them for you. But this takes another component- education, which also takes time. So really, making more money is only one way to a better life. Better time management is as well. So when I spend time watching instructional videos, I really couldn't care less about all the useless fluff this guy talks about! This whole lesson could've been presented in 5-10 minutes. And for those of you who think he has to fill up a certain amount of time, so that's why he needs to make it entertaining, or he needs to make it entertaining to keep people engaged..., if he were such a great teacher, he could use the extra time to give real-world examples. Stuff that will get your to your desired end-goal quicker. The truly great teachers have a genuine desire to give you as much education as they can in the given time, not talk about themselves. If its not going to benefit me in the long run, I'm just wasting my time. And as it becomes harder and harder to make a good living, not just good enough for the present, but also good enough so you'll be able to provide for yourself later in life..., I need to make every minute count. And you do too. I'm glad it's a video, so I can fast-forward thru this guy talking about his life, because it's easy to tell he gets something out of all this self-centered chatter. He is a "decent" teacher, and I can tell he enjoys it. But it's also apparent that one of the reasons he enjoys it is so he can listen to himself talk.

He gives the mind a break and does talk about real world problems which relates to his topics. A good teacher does not cram everything all at once expecting you to comprehend new jargon. chapter 7 and yet you are still here. Plenty of Videos on KZbin, not to mention you just waisted plenty of time with a condescending comment
@meddlesomemusic5 жыл бұрын
With KZbin you can set playback rate to X2. This may not be your style of learning, but for many, the anecdotes tied to metaphors told in a humorous idiosyncratic manner increases attention and memory retention

It's mind boggling - he's a great lecturer and clearly very smart - but most of the anecdotal banter could probably be edited out. Why do I care that a dual engine plane costs 3x the price of a single engine plane?!?

you have to add comic relief to keep classes somewhat entertained.

True - but I guess it was a bit beyond my threshold - otherwise I've fully enjoyed the series
