You have given me new ideas for a beach buggy. Tried to do one for a disabled vet but found the motors and battery added too much extra weight. Think I need to redo the frame and add larger tires. Thank you so much.

Hello Roger. I’m truly amazed of your hard work to make this happen for your wife. I’d love to do this exact replica of your sand buggy for my husband. We always have trouble finding one for him to rent or simply to walk alongside by a beach near us so I’m set on recreating. I’d love to know more about it like what tires you used an if you can tell me anything else I’d really appreciate it. Want to surprise him with this. Don’t know much about tolls but I’d love to know some basics to get help please an thank you.

Tools*. Also I’d love to make it a more powerful one for soft sand if you can point me in a direction what kind of battery id need. He has a wheelchair an M300 permobil wonder if that has enough power for my project

An what kind of size wheels you used or which ones you’d prefer for me to get if I’d want mine to drive over dirt an soft sand ?
@bojonose
@bojonose 6 жыл бұрын
Well first, thanks, but it didn’t really work in the soft sand. You need big balloon sand tires on the rear drive wheels like the front ones but way bigger. And more power would be great but I don’t know how to do it. And for tools you really need a fabricator welder guy to do it. I used a friends garage with all the stuff I needed. Google sand wheelchairs and you should see quite a few of those big tires I was telling you about. Good luck!!

Hi Roger - what a great build. Can you tell me height of the seat? I,ve been looking at elec beach chairs and need a seat height of 23-24 in to be able to transfer. Thanks. Enjoyed your video

Hi Roger, I was wondering If you could share your Blue Prints with me or the sizes of your metal tubing with me. I have Muscular Dystrophy and I'm interested in making my own chair for the beach. Moved here to Florida a year ago and would love to be able to get on the beach my chair just gets stuck. I'm really missing out here!

Hi Brian, I really dont have any kind of blueprints for it, I just kinda made it up as I went along. I think I used 2x1 in. square tubing for main part of frame and 1x1 in. for front forks. That buggy was easy to make fit because the original wheelchair clamped on to the motor part. Most chairs dont....somebody gave us that wheelchair. I made the mistake of covering it with plastic tarp and all the electronics got moldy from sweating under the tarp. So now it just sits all broken, needs new elec. brain and toggle box. It would only go on harder sand...it would get stuck in the soft sand. There is a guy on youtube that made a three wheel elec.sand buggy chair that would go everywhere. If I can find him ill send it your way. I tried to get info from him but he never answered me. My wife has progressive MS and she cant take the bumps anymore. Talk to ya later......Roger

wow .. looks simple and great will done I'm quad and have extra chinese electric wheelchair that I bought for my mom cos she's got brain stroke but she scared for using it at all .. so I guess I'll adapt it the way you did here I think that you used steel for the new frame, what do you think of using aluminum for the frame? could you please give me the link for buying the rare wheels and tires/ I will be so grateful and appreciate your help thanks.
@bojonose

Aluminum would be great, I can only weld steel. My rear tires are to hard, best ones to use are what are on the front. They make bigger ones for rear.

Hello Roger, I have a quickie P222 wheelchair the same model you used for your sand buggy. I am a quadriplegic. A friend is going to try and duplicate your design. But we wanted to ask you a few questions prior. How would you rate the power, and the distance you get on a charge? In retrospect, what would you change initially? I appreciate any information you can give me. Nice sand buggy wheelchair. Thanks
@bojonose
@bojonose 6 жыл бұрын
Raul Ramirez Hi Raul, it worked great in the hard sand but on soft sand there just wasn’t enough power, that’s why in the other video called...Here comes Barbara you will see I added a make shift tire chains out of white plastic chain and rubber bungee cords. That helped, but when the front tires got crossed up it would get stuck. So if you notice on my last video of the buggy I put a hand lever and a tie rod to keep front wheels from crossing up and that let me keep the toggle lever in the middle which gave it more power when turning because both motors are working at the same time. Before when you turn with the toggle lever it causes one motor to slow way down which leaves you with only one motor powering it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHnCc395a9achZI Take a look at this guys buggy, it’s real nice. And the back tires are what you need to keep it from getting stuck. I couldn’t afford them so I used some cheap tractor lawnmower wheels and tires which did not work because of way to hard of rubber. Hope I helped a little, Roger

Jim Petrausch I'm thinking it was an old invacare powerchair that had a removable frame which made it easy to clamp on a new frame I made from square tubing. The seat was a cheap guy for a fishing boat and rear wheels and tires are from a riding mower. The front wheels are made for sand only which work great. If you want it for really soft sand, then get some rear tires like the front but way taller. There expensive, that's why I used the tractor tires in rear but there to hard of rubber for soft sand. Look on KZbin for other electric sand buggies. I saw one this guy made with 3 wheels....it went everywhere! Good luck!

scott williams do you live by Chico, California? If you do, you could come by. We use it down by Fort Bragg sometimes. It does work in really soft sand, it needs more power. That wheelchair was givin to me. What's cool about that chair is the frame I made just clamps up to it.
