Chinese government never put environment as a criterion to set up their new EV policy, right?? Even if the rest of the world doesn't have a green EV boom, their governments still concern for the environment, but when China has it, it has to be China's greed for the new money. Right?? Not necessarily. Even if China had 90% of EV cars that wouldn't mean that the Chinese would dominate the automotive industry because EVs would still be a small percentage of total cars in China. I had a little look around and you can see cars there that cost about 120,000 yuan, which is quite a bit cheaper than westerners would be paying for something like the tesla model 3. Plus they get all kinds of benefits when it comes to things like parking and registration plates (as this video mentioned). With all the smog here I for one can't wait to see this take off. By the way this video is already out of date because things are changing so fast. By the end of 2017 there are now over 1,200,000 EV's in China, you can see all the stats here: www.ev-volumes.com/country/china/

Every country has choice to select gasoline or Electric car based on their own situation. In China's case, China is short of oil and can not rely on importing more oil while more and more people own cars. A typical Electric car can run 400kms by charging US$10 electricity. It is more affordable than running on gas.

The Chinese car manufacturing space is interesting for the fact there are quite a large number of brands that out in the west we have no idea exist. The local market is so huge and so different that they can have these thriving local brands. The Chinese are getting on with the job of embracing new technology to where no doubt they are on the path to be global leaders. Once the local brands gain the skills to make high quality cars they will become serious global competitors.

Difficult to say wheather they will develope faster than western companys. If they manage to think long term they might be able to compete. In China electric cars will actually increase air pollution and CO2 emissions. How? When you charge your car the power comes from power plants. In China 70 percent of electric power comes from burning coal, the dirtiest fuel there is. 5 percent of the energy is lost in the power grid heating up wires and transformers. So the pollution is transferred from car tailpipes to power plant smokestacks and there's more of it. How do I know this? I'm an electrical engineer and I design the installation of the chargers. How about in the US? 30 percent of our electricity comes from.burning coal down from 50 percent a few years ago. Do we have a net gain or loss of CO2 emissions using electric cars. The truth is nobody knows but it won't be nearly as much benefit as most people think and it really is a bad choice to buy and use one IMO.

There is nothing wrong with carrying a small Honda 240 volt petrol electric generator to charge your electric car battery when you are on long trips. These generators put out a high amperage electric current and will charge a car battery in about 2 hours. You could have some food for lunch while the battery is being charged. There is a plan for a capacitor to be charged before you leave home. It will have a complete charge enough for a full battery charge. When the battery is getting low you plug it in and the capacitor discharges a full charge into the electric car's battery in just a few seconds. I live in Australia and I would buy a Chinese made electric car. I just want an affordable electric car. Our government and the petroleum companies are keeping electric car prices too high for people to buy one. The petroleum companies get to sell petrol and oil to people and the government of Australia gets 40c of every litre sold in revenue. Just a pair of bastards that keep electric cars too expensive for ordinary people to buy. Please China flood the market with good cheap electric cars as plenty of Australian's will buy them. Hurry China we want them now.

Toyota and Suzuki making EV in India by 2020, first time both collaborating and chosen India for its production and research because govt told them if they both cannot produce, govt will ask Mahidnra and Tata to collaborate. Cheverlot winded up India sales said office work is done at US office and production cost is high and cannot reduce price. We export mostly to Latin America from India and cannot move production to LA because no country offers the GREAT SUPPLIER BASE like India. We tested components from hundreds of suppliers and all very good including gear box, filter etc etc and reached a mileage of 25 km by testing components for years. If we produce it anywhere, the mileage may be 20 and cost of production will be high as NO COMPETITION among suppliers. India exports cars 40% to Latin and Central America. Few to EU and Africa mostly to UK, Algeria etc. Least to West Asia, Central Asia or South East Asia!!!! Suzuki started operation from 1980 and now has Hyundai, Ford, BMW, GM, Volswagen, Lamborgini, Toyota, Audi, SAIC, Chery, Jaguar etc etc. Dislikers can buy costly cars and waste money as Indian cars are worth money but do not make bad comments as no one will believe it as sales doubling in South America after 5 years of operation.

I heard they were changing the incentives due to their effect of increasing the overall number of vehicles on the roads, and therefore increasing the pollution. They really want to encourage people to stop using ICE cars and *instead* use EVs, which would mean people either buying a 2nd vehicle, or replacing their existing vehicle, which is an expensive proposition that is inconceivable for many. IMO, they should introduce 'buy back' schemes for people to replace their ICE cars with EVs.

What really needs to change is the way they design and sell cars... Why can't I buy whichever car I want and use whatever battery I need .... Why must the car be limited to the factory battery, you can set range or limit but cars must be sold separately from batteries...let consumers decide how much battery they need...just make a good safety car with high energy efficiency...and people decide how much battery to put in it....why is that so difficult....or as usual car manufacturers just want to control your life the same way mobile phones companies are doing.... They're stupid...cuz they will make more money by selling batteries as accessories....or selling cars that can run on multiple energy sources... Stop abusing consumers....make life easier...not harder on people...
