Absolutely one of my Top 5 80s movies! I was fortunate enough to go to a screening of the film a couple years ago where Virginia Madsen, Lenny von Dohlen and Rusty Lemorande were there in person. I also did an extended interview with Steve Barron for my TV show where we talked a lot about this film! Thanks for the look back!

Yeah, this video made it an easy click of the subscribe button. Saw this on one of the pay channels around '86. I was in junior high, a punk-rockin-D&D-computer-geek; puppy love and whatnot. The soundtrack is probabbly the strongest nostalgia twinge for me. You're videos are nicely put togetther and I don't hate your voice. Keep it up :)

I only watched this movie recently but ever since I’ve been absolutely obsessed, it was so ahead of its time and is so well written. It almost makes me wish I was alive during this time to see it in theaters. I’m glad that it wasn’t lost to time though and I was able to watch it today.

The first time I listened to this song was when I was still in 1st year high school days.... It may sound irrelevant but this song inspired me to pursue my career as an electrical engineer.... By the way, this is one of my all time favorite songs....

That was a fantastic tribute and doco on this film which although never had the big success due to some very interesting and unfortunate complexities with marketing etc..., but it today beloved by millions. The fact that Virginia Madsen basically admitted to the two leads being in romantic love off screen (but without eventuation ....) explains why these two on screen seem to be so attuned and right for one another. They probably didn't have to act that hard. The section where you state this might be the most eighties thing you've ever seen then showing the final minutes of the scene made me think of just one thing; that we were happy and had fun in the eighties. Maybe nostalgia is coming into play, but this film had it all romance, sweetness, innocence, beauty - both physical and innate especially the music and fun! The Duel might just be the most uplifting piece of pure joy ever screened. When Virginia crinkles her nose that is not acting - that was real and genuinely endearing. Whenever I even think about it or play the soundtrack I want to go back to that time. I was 15 when I saw it on video. It was recommended to our dad by the video shop owner and believe it or not the art design on the cover and the title ELECTRIC DREAMS was glued on with golden glitter - I have never come across that since. PLEASE let us hope they don't do a remake. I noted this doco was put on KZbin 2 years ago and I know they are saying today it is going to happen. I won't watch it. This movie is of its era and time and that's what we love about it. You can't reheat a souffle. For once in this modern world of film where originality is rare, we need to hope this gorgeous movie is never desecrated by some inferior remake. It is terrible to know the world has lost Lenny and we must think of Virginia and how hard that must have been for her. Yet she has beautiful memories which she shared in this video and alongside Lenny and Bud they gave a whole generation of young romantics and music lovers a treasure that has and will stay within us for the rest of our days. Thank you sincerely for this retroreview. It brought back so many happy memories that we were lucky to have experienced.

BEAUTIFUL movie. I had to take violin in 3rd and 4th grades and they taught us, by trick pony methods, the very basics of many classical pieces. The one here was one of them. When I heard the "collaboration" of Madeline and Edgar on it, it was glorious!

I remember seeing this as a kid in the 80's this with Tron and wargames fueled my love of computers. As i saw this this again more recently I found the movie to be far more prophetic. The way the show him connect everything to the computer. Its basically exactly how we made the "Smart Home" today with Smart locks and Smart plugs .

I just looked up a sad detail. Lenny Von Dohlen passed away on July 5 2022. Virginia Madsen always wanted to a reunion, not a movie but at something like Comic Con.

I literally was on a binge looking up clips from electric dreams and saw this video referred to me. It's amazing how prophetic this movie was. 40 years later we have artificial intelligence, voice duplication, and 3D modeling computer software among other things.

Original pepsi commercial shows "Marry me Sue". In reverse it becomes "Sue me Mary". Prophetic of commercial marriage... Excellent movie by the way.

That story about the little kid ignoring his mother to play with the speak and spell was stupid. He did not seriously expect the child to interact 24 seven with its mother, that would’ve been weird. Besides, just wait to see what Computers, smart phones, and social media will do to our human interactions in the future.

Wargames was the first computer film. It came out a year before Electric Dreams.

2001: A Space Odyssey predated Wargames by a decade and a half. Desk Set predated 2001 by over a decade. Wargames isn't remotely in the running for being the first computer film.
