I loved this show. There were a couple of episodes that I lost interest in and then went back to watch again when I felt I was in a better state of mind to pay close attention. I ended up enjoying them much more. This is a show you shouldn't try to finish in 2 days. Take your time. Feel free to skip around a bit if one seems boring. Then try coming back to it later.

You know there was one episode I couldn't get through but then I got through all the rest so I don't know there's only one episode of The nine episodes I didn't get through because it was like maybe boring

I like how you mention that it's a modern interpretation of the "old future." In retrospect I can see how relics of nostalgic syfy movies were used in the series. My problem is that the series didn't do anything to divert the traditional narratives. Even the episodes where the twist wasn't spelled out in the ending felt extremely predictable.

The episode with the kid whose dad is possessed by aliens was extraordinary and very well produced, it runs like a short feature film.

I really enjoyed season one of Electric Dreams. Im trying to avoid comparisons to arguably my favorite show : Black Mirror. P. K. Dick. Definitely enjoyed the 10 episodes. As a huge sci-fi fan...im just glad to have another show in the genre!

If anyone can explain the Steve Buscemi episode to me I'd appreciate it because... I have no idea what happens, why it happened, or really much of anything.

The endings of Electric Dreams is what makes them go from good to great.
@LibertyOrDeath-ms5rf6 ай бұрын
The biggest thing is that the stories from Electric Dreams is that the stories were written long before black mirror was even a thought. Philip K Dick died in 1982 so there you go...Way more original stories in Electric Dreams.

Great review. Random Question lol but do you only watch T.V shows on Netflix and online streaming or do you watch some shows on dvd and Blu ray?
@BingeWatchers7 жыл бұрын
I watch on Netflix, Hulu and Amazon. Sometimes I would buy/rent stuff on Amazon video but I don't own any hard copies (DVD/BluRay).

You mentioning how the show embraces an outdated future gave me a new perspective on the series as a whole. Kind of like with Mars Attacks, Electric Dreams is a loving homage to a genre/form of story telling that many would consider obsolete. My issue is that the morals and messages aren't relevant to modern society. I know this show isn't Black Mirror, but at least with an episode like USS Callister, which was an homage to Star Trek, they were able to make a loving homage while also providing relevant social commentary on toxic power dynamics. With Electric Dreams, all the moral questions seem too black-and-white. There's no room for the audience to question what they're supposed to take away from each episode, because they generally spell it out for us.

Hey do you still make videos I don't know I found this 6 year old video and I don't know if you still have this channel or not but I think your review of this is really good there's only one episode of The nine episodes that was boring or I didn't get through but also I think when I was watching them I was watching them with intent that they had different names to him where I was watching them

I liked the open ended ones. Most endings in most full-length scifi films are too cliche, but having a 40 -50 min episode without a definite ending is a way to make the viewer invest their own thoughts into the episode, what it means, what questions are being raised...

I thought every single episode was really good..mainly because of the stories and storytelling. Guess thx to Philipp K. Dick^^. Many, besides the cool sci fi sceneries, just have a profound relatable emotional aspect. The protraits of people and relationships are just realistic and relatable. Gives Electric Dreams depth I think and makes it really compelling.

Watch the show with an open mind and I think you’ll enjoy it. Of course, some episodes were weaker than others but that’s a given for any anthology series. (I.E: Crocodile from BM) Give it a chance. I really liked it. I’m just glad I’m not wasting a portion of my Prime subscription anymore. It’s nice to have some additional variety when it comes to streaming services.

Good review, many thanks. I've been collecting PKD books since the '70s and have all of them (sci-fi and mainstream) - and have read them all multiple times, so I'm hyper critical of shows derived from them. I feel the same about these episodes and appreciate your recommendations. Some of the poorer episodes I'm like: I think I'd rather just re-read the story, and that kind of ruins it for me, but I really like when they're done well. Now if we get a good theatrical release of UBIK, Three Stigmata and Eye In the Sky, I can die a happy man...

Considering that Black Mirror is absolute trash that only exists to make fun of its own audience, Electric Dreams is much better. Unfortunately, it's still not very good, and most of what is less good is the stuff that was changed from Dick's work.
@bradojacko82475 жыл бұрын
This show felt like it was more focused on wokeness and calculated gender and race diversity quotas. Perhaps they should focus on the scripts instead... Real life wasnt very good. Anna paquin isnt very good. Autofac was better even though it had an inexplicable predator character for no reason. Buscemis episode was awful.
