I think that as long as horses are treated well, horse carriages are fine. But if laws are inadequate, or if adherence to anti-cruelty measures is impractical, then electric can be a good alternative.

Yes, these must be used in New York City & other cities in the US to save the dear horses from the heat, & dangers the horses are put through in their long, hot days pulling carriages in a city. Abuse of horses must stop!! These electric carriages are wonderful!!

The word "car" comes from "carriage." A car IS a horseless carriage in technical essence. So transition of a city to old style electric "horseless carriages" serves no practical purposes at all. Totally pointless, might as well have Teslas do the job.
