Split rings work in such a way that after half rotation the arms switch currents.Due to this the arms will again experience rotation in the same direction intead of going back Simply put,if there is no change in current the arms will dance back and forth because of the current.Split rings stop this by reversing the every half rotation so if current changes the arm will not go back but keep moving in one direction. Video is really gud!! learned many thing which I didnt know.. but the only prob is that - when the switch turns on a electron moves from the negative terminal to positive but it shouldnt actually... because when we turn the switch on all the electrons experience a drift .. means all the electrons in the circuit start moving the moment u turn it on .. the actual speed of a moving electron when the switch s on is only few centimeters per second!!. I was confused too much but finally figured it out :)
