Man the more and more I see what ASI can do I might go with a BAC 2000 on my build I think it will go great with my new motor and the battery your building for me. First off. Thank you for openly sharing your thoughts, and ideas. 2nd . Love the platform you have chosen. The little Ninja should provide you a stable platform in which to test your ideas as performance gains are being made. Your current re-gen braking idea, with the thumb brake? That in my mind is a safe start. You definitely don't want all or nothing when trying to slow or stop a motorcycle. A motorcycle requires a weight transfer occur to load up the front tire before you can squeeze into the front brake. Same for the rear, as the weight transfer will take weight off the rear tire. Making the rear light. So some sort of attack envelope/wave needs to be programmed into the re-gen. Starting off gentle, and building up over milliseconds the longer the switch is open. Which brings me to my final thought. An ABS circuit that will release the re-gen before wheel lockup occurs. I don't understand why the EV car manufactures haven't developed this into their vehicles braking systems already. Yes the amount of re-gen available while riding on flat terrain may be minimal, but applying the brakes in hilly terrain or vehicles carrying cargo (weight). The potential for capturing back that energy exponentially will grow. From a cargo bike right up to an 80,000 lb truck could really take advantage of the re-gen being incorporated into the vehicles braking system. I hope your efforts bring you much success. Thanks and Ebrake settings are very easy to set up. Mine will not lock the rear wheel at all but slow it down massively alone down to 3mph and will disengage also have off throttle that slows bike just by letting throttle go. The variable alone I feel all the control you need unlike most ebrake that are same power of stopping all the time no matter the speed with out the variable basically a brake throttle you can't modulate it.

Any reason you wouldn't remove the back brake and hook it into the handle bar brake lever instead?

When you run ebrake to just the brake lever switch its full ebrake power all the time so unless you want whiplash when you barely engage your brake you have to set your ebrake at a low power setting. With the variable switch you can set the power to max and just engage it as much as you want making your ebrake just as good as a manual brake you have full control of just how much ebrake you can apply. If you connect it straight to the lever its just on or off. You have to choose how much engage power you want it to be all the time. That's why this is called variable ebrake.

It just plugs into this controller it's software based set up with ASI controllers. Not all controllers have variable ebrake input its like you said, connected to the brake level and its on or off. Some perks with this type of controller. It's a reason why I really push these ASI controllers the tech is great. Why it's crazy efficient too. This isn't Vesc base software but it has allot of the same features as VESC. Most VESC base controllers are more expensive but another case of getting what you pay for.
