Which one makes the most sense for you? 1. A generic 2-stage pump with battery? ($130) -- amzn.to/3wNp8kl 2. An Outdoor Master Shark ($140) -- amzn.to/3r9K7Jr 3. A generic 2-stage pump ($80) -- amzn.to/3uBBkCu I personally own and use all the gear I recommend. I'm also an Amazon affiliate, and earn a small commission if you decide to buy any of the gear I recommend.

This was helpful. I have the silver generic two stage. That sucker is now taking about 14 minutes to pump up my SUP! It's time for an upgrade.

Interesting - Are you sure the value on your SUP is tight? Many times you need to take that valve wrench that comes with your paddle board and tighten the valve a quarter turn or so to stop a slow leak there. Also, check the pump's inflation tube for a small crack or puncture with some soapy water. But who knows, maybe the pump is just giving out...
@zafiradaima
@zafiradaima 2 жыл бұрын
@@texaspaddleboard7797 I really think it's the pump. Valve doesn't show bubbles or any signs of air leakage when I wash it. I have another pump, a cheap Sevylor, and it pumps it up much faster, except the Sevylor stops at 15psi. The SUP is a Red Paddle Co 12'6" Voyager and it goes up to 22psi, so I usually run it about 19-20 in winter and 17-18 in summer. I'll be sure and check the valve as well as the pump's hose next time I have it out. Thanks!!

Longevity is and effectiveness for high pressure is what I am after. I have collection of failed pumps at this point. My board needs 17-18 psi. Maybe longevity is not in the cards for plastic pumps. Shark seems promising.
@texaspaddleboard7797
@texaspaddleboard7797 2 жыл бұрын
Shark is also plastic and made in China. I've had a Shark break too. They are all about the same quality without a significant amount of variation, just different looks.

Please do a review to 15 psi. This is what most boards are recommended to be set at.
@texaspaddleboard7797
@texaspaddleboard7797 3 жыл бұрын
Great comment - I actually recommend not filling to the max 15 PSI, because if you leave your SUP in the sun for not very long, the PSI will increase (due to the heating air expanding) and pass the recommended 15 PSI. 10 PSI is the minimum to have a safe, sturdy paddleboard. 15 PSI is the max, But to if you look at the graphs I included in video at 0:57, 1:15, or 2:40, you'll be able to easily guess how long it would take to reach the additional 3 PSI. (It's about 30 sections of filling for each additional PSI.)

Thanks for the video! Kind of a dumb question, do you need to keep the car turn on while using the 12v outlet?
@texaspaddleboard7797
@texaspaddleboard7797 3 жыл бұрын
Not a dumb question. But yes, you do have to have the car on for each one of the three to turn on and be used. (at least with my Toyota Tacoma)
@dllemm
@dllemm 2 жыл бұрын
You would have to at least turn on the car's accessories, which should energize your 12v ports. This may be a partial turn of your key to "ACC". This airpump draws up to 10 amps, which a car battery should be able to handle for hours. But if there is any doubt of your car battery's health, you should start and idle your motor while inflating.

Wonder if you see more of a difference between the Shark and the generic two-stage if you are pumping larger boards closer to 20 PSI.
@texaspaddleboard7797
@texaspaddleboard7797 2 жыл бұрын
Great question. These pumps use basically same internal components, and are both made in China. Check out this video of me opening up my Shark kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6nUk5-metpsl6M . The main difference is the Shark has a cooling fan and better looking design, but the generic one doesn't.

@texaspaddleboard7797
@texaspaddleboard7797 2 жыл бұрын
The small, 1-stage only pump is the loudest the longest. The Outdoor Master one is just a little bit less-loud then the other. All high-pressure pumps are loud though, and I have not found a "quite" pump.

I have the Shark 2. Be aware OUTDOOR MASTER has no support to contact on their website. They have a phone number but their voice mail is always full the week I called. I finally contacted them through email and apparently if you didn't buy from them and you bought it from Walmart or Amazon they don't honor warranties ... any support you do get sucks because the person that contacts you is an idiot. Took me 3 tries (through email) to get them to tell me what size fuse amp is inside the DC connector. Keep an eye on the DC connector (that insert's into the cigarette lighter) ... the tip can work loose and you then lose it and the fuse and spring inside ... now you can't get power.

Thanks for a great video! This will be my first summer doing SUP, just got my board, but still to cold here in Norway. What are noise levels on these? Would it annoy people at the beach if I ran this pump in the parking lot like 50 feet away from them?
@texaspaddleboard7797
@texaspaddleboard7797 2 жыл бұрын
the dual-stage pumps are pretty quite during the first minute during the low-pressure filling stage. Once the high-pressure pumps turns on after a minute, it is about as loud as very small lawn mower but with a higher pitch. I don't have a way to measure the decibels. The people 50 feet away would for sure hear it, but it wouldn't be overwhelming and only lasts 4-5 minutes. If you're in the parking lot, people wouldn't think it's weird for a noise to be going on for a little bit.

iRocker has their own branded pump that has a different shell shape - rectangular. They also have a compact add-on battery for inflation away from the car. Still might be made in China, but I’d be interested in anyone’s experience with this pump working on battery power, and also in the use of the battery with my own pump (the same 2-stage orange and black pump you have). Cheers!

Hey tom, I actually made a video about external batteries, but took it down to make some revisions to it. It turns out some external batteries "say" they are 12V, but when fully charged they put out closer to 15 or 16V and trip the circuit on some pumps. I personally own this kind and it works on 2/3rds of the pumps I have like the SeaMax or Serene Life of Vachan ones, but not the outdoor master. amzn.to/3DaZveC and amzn.to/3yAqCgO

Cool. DId you mean you own the one in the links or the iRocker? The iRocker is designed for their own pump, so I suspect it’s tested on that device, but was curious about what you thought. Not that I mind the awesone triceps I’m getting from pumping my kayak at waterside. 🚣‍♀😎
