Hi there, theoretically could this be done with a plant? Eg applying the paint to a large flat leaf, twisting the light board into another leaf, and touching the leaf to turn the light on?

Yes you can! By connecting the plant to the electrode E0 you can turn it on by touching the plant.

Whats the smallest rechargeable battery I place on this item and once thr dimmer is set at a certain level does it remain on that setting and one other thing can a reed switch be placed to turn on the led. Kind regards del

Hello! We wouldn't recommend using a battery, instead, it should be powered via a USB cable and power source.
