Can i add one little point: Your PPE needs to be in place BEFORE you open or expose ANY part of the battery, including removing the MSD (if it has not been removed prior to battery pack removal, which it generally should be) but certainly before you open the end plates or contactor covers etc. Getting into this habbit is a bit like putting your seat belt on when you drive a car, ie you almost certainly WON'T need the seat belt on this drive, but if your do, you'll be very glad you had it on..... ;-)

Oh, and really, a normal multimeter can be a real issue due to the possibility of incorrect range / mode selection and due to potential damage to the test leads. I would always start on any unkown with a proper "dead tester" (eg martindale proving unit) and only move to a (known and trusted) multimeter for detailed analysis, but only after checking the range/mode selction across a suitable proving unit and after a physical inspection of the test leads being used. HVDC safety is really not difficult, or expensive, but it must be done right, every time, because one chance is all you will get.......

All very good points, but rest assured I had already made the unit safe before filming, as I said in the vid. The meter used is Cat III 1000v. A face shield is essential when removing any part of the HV system due to the risk of arc flash, but in this vid no part was removed. Safety is essential.

Oh, and please include suitable face / eye protection as well, not just the gloves, even for normal spectacle wearers, as any arc flash or short event can seriously damage eyesight very easily indeed on a HV DC battery :-)
