I find that the simple 'cost per mile' argument works well. Especially as EV prices have become more competitive. An example:- my 160 mile trip yesterday cost £2.75p, (parking cost £2.40p)

Forgot to charge it. Couldn't get where I needed. What does that cost?

Add in the cost of the car then its far more money, its the reason why most buy a second hand car because the overall cost of running a diesel is far cheaper in the long run.

@@adamtricarico8624 I haven't yet found anywhere in the UK where I could not get with my EV. Forgot to charge comes with forgot to fill up with fuel , a personal choice of stupidity.(often a journalistic affliction)

@@PF-gi9vv I have owned numerous cars , in the early years some costing less than a tank of petrol. I found that changing a car frequently due to its age , or defects, was more expensive than buying a 'better' car and running it for a long time, be that Petrol Diesel or now Electric. And I never had to 'get out and get under' to fix it. The average mileage of 8000 miles a year with diesel at £7 a gallon (£1.5 a Lt) works out at £1120 per year. 8000 miles in my electric car costs £158. ie. seven times than for diesel. or £962 saved each year towards the capital cost of the car. I have an electric car that has over 90000 miles on the clock, that is a fuel cost of £1777. The same distance in a diesel at 50 mpg would cost £12600. Put that difference against a new EV with warranties, cheaper serviceing , etc and diesel fails in the long run. For myself, the only drawback with an EV has been it is so cheap to use that I drive it for fun.
