All I can say is that this is a real grower and getting better with every listen. Even at their most average, EW still beats the shit out of the 95% of the stoner/doom/hardrock (revival) scene today in terms of heaviness and good songwriting. Also I do not see any point in comparing a band's new material to older releases; each recording by any artist/band should be looked upon as an entity of its own.

Whilst the production of older EW stuff was great in a grotty, grimy way, it's nice to be able to hear/understand the vocals for once.

Lyrics I'm so cold inside My feelings can't survive Your torturous screams Mean nothing to me This dying world gasps its last breath at me Die by my hands All hope is lost There'll be no new dawn And all of your dreams will die (die) I need something to fix the pain Baby, baby, please stick the needle in Then I'll be dead and blue Just like you This dying world gasps its last breath at me Die by my hands All hope is lost There'll be no new dawn And all of your dreams will die (die) They're still haunting me I know I'll never be free Lucifer, my only friend I'll burn in hell to the end, yeah! I'm so dead inside Wishing I could die Your torturous screams Still haunt my dreams This dying world gasps its last breath at me Suffer by my hands All hope is lost There'll be no new dawn And all of your dreams will die (die) This world is crazy and makes me sick Maybe I'll torture you just for kicks But I lie here possessed by evil Forever a servant of the devil

Not at all surprising to find 54 -55 years ago we would be cranking up the stereo to hear the first Black Sabbath album & how nice to hear they still have a major impact on Heavy Rock & what now has become one of many forms of Metal . If you have to have influences & play hard & heavy Black Sabbath is still influencing musicians young & old. So this band is not by any means Black Sabbath & i don't think they think they are but they definitely have the influence .

I had many a beer a walk and a spliff with that man and his mate Dave gedge in the summer of 1990. Scot Wheeler was also there. Can't remember the other guys names but I would love to meet again. Just if you see this message say hi.

To people complaining that this isn’t like their old stuff: did you HEAR their self titled debut? This is so similar to their first album it’s almost like a “back to basics” album
@nitzer2804 жыл бұрын
Waluigi, Americas Sweetheart totally agree
@hirohikonishikawa48514 жыл бұрын
No it is not, I have just listened to it again after reading your comment. This here sounds more like a very plain and generic doom band , it is just mediocre and boring at its best. Can't compare to witchcult today or some other albums.
@nitzer2804 жыл бұрын
@@hirohikonishikawa4851 To each their own, but he was comparing this tune to some of the music off the self-titled album and "come my fanatics", not further down the road like witchcult today.

Very different guitar tone, overall band sound and especially production wise. Plus no more distorted vocals. All the albums they have made, have had a lil different sound and vibe than the previous. Love it or hate it, solid album. Definitely not their best, but good and at least they aren't stagnating. Last couple albums sounded sort of uninspired to me.

I fucking love electric wizard. And they can play whatever they want to play. But this is the worst riff they have ever done. It sounds like a parody of an imitation. And no, dopethrone is not my favourite album. There is no menace to this. No dream. Hate to say it but it has nothing that made me fall in love with electric wizard. I still love them but this is shit. I hope its just the sellout single and the rest of the album is heavy as fuck. Listening to this i felt grief.

Even if the riffs are better the production will still suck in the rest of the album. No heavy riff can sound heavy if the production makes it sound slick ):
@gutterdandy91737 жыл бұрын
My my, take it easy man, it's only a song, and a bluesy, Blue Cheer-influenced one at that. As far as feeling grief, they aren't the Captain and Tennille.

That is when you know that you need some Paul Chain in your life , "Park of reason" might be a good starting point actually ( since it´s the one I ´m playing next ).
