I wanted to try out EDM on a small scale before heading into my "EDM graphite die sinking" project. So i took what i had on hand and build a little demonstrator. Arduino code can be found here: pastebin.com/Z...

I have learned from Baxedm that you need to use water with a specific conductivity to generate a spark on close proximity, not on contact. Thought I’d share Awesome project!

I think using deionised water instead of oil might give you a clearer view

Deionised water is used on wire eroders that cut with brass wire. Spark eroders (edm) use a light low flash point oil. So, sunflower oil is is good starting point.

Using a solenoid to lift the electrode everytime of conact works perfectly and maintains the spark gap

IM Jaffery How are you? I hope you will be fine Your video is great to watch. I have understood the mechanical, But could not understand how motor forward and reverse is happening, if possible send circuit diagram Yours sincerely,

Can you show how to wire the arduino please

A very good start on a simple edm machine. Try cutting something hard like a ball bearing to prove you can put a shallow hole in something you cannot usually cut.

2-Eurocent-coins are made of steel, platted with copper (if it were pure copper, like other currencies earlier, the copper would be much more worth than the worth of the 2-cent-coin itself ;-) If EDM can cut steel, hardened steel shouldn´t make a difference...

AWESOME! I have everything I need here, I need to go back to your use of the H-Bridge but its just an arc to eat away from the metal or do I need something else, , off to watch more and learn, Thank you.

how long it takes? to produce a hole? or first stretch on the workpiece?

Not bad 30 min if is made from scratch only to see if is work.

maybe I wasn't paying attention, but what did you use as a powersource?
@boltzbrain30393 жыл бұрын
in this case my Lab Powersupply with 0-50V DC, i found that about 24v worked best for this case, on higher voltages the process was quicker but welding became a problem. And since my setup wasnt exactly stiff i tryed to avoid welding.

@@boltzbrain3039 What was the current draw? Will a 10A 24V SMPS supply suffice?

Hello BolzBrain .. Hey I was wanting to message you to give something a try ... I think you can cut your time cutting through a whole lot quicker.

You all seem to have the required kind of trash lying around. Unlucky me. But nice setup

Please don’t put any more thumping background music on your videos. Very few dance club enthusiasts are interested in EDM.
