Regarding the emergency horizon switch, it does provide power to the flood lights and standby attitude indicator, but there isn't an "electrical vacuum pump," as indicated in the naration. The attitude gyro is electrically driven, with no vacuum system on the aircraft whatsoever.

0:40 the main battery is not "primarily used as a backup" if the alternators fail. It's not big enough to last very long if both alternators fail. It's basically there to provide power to the systems for a short time before engine start, start the engines and prevent any transient voltage drops in the electrical system (like when operating the landing gear).

I'm getting ready for my multi engine checkride and this gets brought up all the time, so yes if you fly a DA42. If not you'll have to learn this information tailored to a different aircraft
