Just finished riding one all day. This bike is substantial in every way. Nothing cheap on it at all. Probably only weighs 10 more pounds more than a similar sized steel frame caveman bike. This is my first electric bike experience. This thing is awesome

@a.a.alexander60304 жыл бұрын
I definitely prefer the Limited edition. Lighting and fenders (not to mention the desirable metal ones) are a must in terms of desired functionality. Bikes not having these are simply ill-equipped and that is why I will likely purchase one. Frame design and build quality look good, as does the treatment of the cabling. If anything, I'd up-grade to stronger lighting, a suspension seatpost and a more cushy seat.

Radrover 5 vs voltbike yukon limited 2020? Planning to buy my first ebike and was wondering which one is better overall.
@Mindokwin4 жыл бұрын
They look similar and use many of the same parts. I just got the Rad Rover 5. It has mechanical brakes which is one difference I see. Also Rover comes with fenders standard, which are plastic. Rad eliminated the throttle disengagement button on the 5. Rover is $1500 shipped so is $300 cheaper but Yukon has the hydraulic brakes. So far I like my Rad Rover but this Yukon looks good too.

Most of these bikes do hide the cables in the down tube. This is good but...I have noticed that they come out of the down tube before the crank and randomly hang there until directed towards their end point, be it brakes or gears. This is very sloppy workmanship. I think that you should make a point of showing all of the routing so that people know where they may need to put a zip tie or at least check for rubbing against moving parts. Could you show this routing in future videos and perhaps precautions or tips on cleaning this up? Maybe designers need to do a bit more routing to clear the bottom of the crank of cables?

A 750 motor is only 500 in Canada. Can we change it to 750?
@marcs40914 жыл бұрын
That's the story with a lot of bikes, only about half have a real 750w
@francoislepine46984 жыл бұрын
@@marcs4091 In my experience the "750" is a function of the controller and how it is programmed. I'm on Vancouver Island. I ordered a 2019 RadMini (when Rad had a fire sale on 2019 models in Jan 2020). I got an email back saying they were out of Minis at their Vancouver outlet and the bike would have to come from Seattle and take a week for delivery (instead of 2 days). When I got the bike I realized the controller NEVER put out more than 500W (visible on the display). I pursued the issue with Rad. They told me that because of Canadian regulations, to be sold as a class 2 bike the output of the controller had to be a maximum of 500W. Given the smaller size of the Canadian market I'm 99% sure Rad does not produce two different bikes....the Canadian version is just "throttled down" by programming different parameters in the controller. 500W (as opposed to 750) means slower take off from a stop...but I don't think it affects the top speed. My Mini will do 30 kmh on the flat (even with those 20" fat tires) I also own a RadCity ST with the gearless motor (it does 35 kmh easily when up to speed).... that is a bike that could use the full 750W as the gearless motor has half the torque of a geared motor and it takes a while to "get going" from a stop. It would be nice, for both bikes, to be able to source used US controllers or find somebody that could reprogram my existing controllers.

We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. kzbin.infoUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

I see a lot of really good powerful electric fat bikes but I have reservations about the amount of rolling resistance if you're mainly using on the road. It's bound to drain the battery. Was thinking maybe I could put slick tires on it...
@VoltbikeCanada6 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can change the tires if you plan to ride mostly on pavement. However, most of the consumers are using the existing tires on pavement and trails and they work great in long term.
@AnElectricHorseSocorro6 жыл бұрын
Dangerman5 These tires are good on sand, but they are too vulnerable to puncture and create too much rolling resistance. Better off with a standard 2” schwalbe with good quality wide liners. Use a 29er Kevlar liner heavy duty tubes with true goo or slime. Cut the liner to fit but leave an overlap. Always service air with the valve at the zenith to avoid fouling the valve. You will get better speed and with no loss of grip. These tires are a visual gimmick to make an e-bike look more like a motorcycle.

@aimeechase21933 жыл бұрын
Not true. They have it set to peak at 750watts but even still it goes a little higher.. then if you wanna void warranty (they advise against it) you can take 30 seconds to go into the settings and ramp it up to even 1000+watts (the meter maxes out at 999watts so unsure of how much over 1000 watts). I've kept mine under 1000watts because the controller isn't intended to withstand more than that. Don't wanna cause unnecessary wear. The motor is labeled 500watts because of legalities.

Voltbike Yukon 750 is completely different bike compared to RadRover. Our bike comes with partially integrated battery into the down tube which provides better weight distribution and water/shake resistance. It comes with hydraulic brakes, adjustable stem, punctured rims, higher quality tires just to name a few. From the outside is also different.

@@VoltbikeCanada The frame is very similar to a lot of other budget ebikes currently on the market. I agree with William Saloka above that M2S, Volt and Rad all have a model that looks suspiciously similar. And I agree with you that each brand has different hardware specs, but it would be nice to see fat tire e-bikes that do not all look alike in the sub $2k price. Even if brands had more color options that would help. While Volt is my favorite of the three hadrware+price wise, I was disappointed when I went to purchase one and even though black with red is pictured on your website only black with blue highlights is actually available... other online reviewers have noted that they purchased a red but received a blue. I emailed your customer service weeks ago and your website still is inaccurate.

A Fat bike is a Fat bike is a Fat bike. Let's see ya ride it home after that tiny battery bottoms out. What's genius about it is that a "major" manufacturer is using the legal maximum in America. As ugly as that Flintstone bike is to me it can go anywhere in America that bikes are allowed. One of the very few smart manufactures as fat as the wattage. But it's still a circus ride.

Most states let you ride a 49cc moped without a license. They typically generate about 3 horsepower, which is the equivalent of 2200 watts on an electric motor. Electric bikes are federally limited to 750 watts, while some states let you go as high as 1000, without a license. The odds that they would regulate ebikes with less than half the power of a gas motor are slim.
