Lots of nice folders with great features. However, you missed one of the most important features that we, as the consumer, often need. That's customer service or service after the sale. Some of these companies are falling short on this important feature. I would much rather spend my money on a "Lesser" bike from a company with excellent customer service!

I've had several e-bikes and I was looking for one that was small enough to fit two in the back of our 2017 Chevy Volt. I found one on Amazon, that is currently (May '24) about $500 including shipping,. "Vivi M026TGB 26" Folding Electric Mountain Bike with 500W Motor, 48V". I was skeptical as it sounded too good to be true, but I was surprised how good they are. I like the fact that they are full size 26" with full suspension. They fold up nicely, look pretty sharp, and the battery seems to give a solid 20 miles of range, which is really my limit before my butt gets too sore. :) I was used to paying over $1,000 (closer to $2,000) for our e-bikes and was surprised how OK these were at such a low price.

Seat post doesn’t technically count as dual suspension, that would be front and rear. I have an XP 3.0 bought in April and already have 1300 miles, it cruises on pavement but bounces and rattles all over off-road. Engwe does have some comparable dual suspension bikes but that would be the EP 2.0

Very much looking forward to your Brompton ebike review. You might also want to review the Zizzo e-Forte electric bike (under a thousand dollars, came out late 2023). One thing to consider is bike weight handling by shorter or lighter people. I know someone who loved the fit of the Synch 2 so bought it, then discovered that the bike was too heavy to keep upright if it started to tip, so fell multiple times...this person has had both shoulder joints replaced and both spouse and this person have had back surgeries. So they also have trouble getting it into their car. For a lot of folks, ebikes in the under 50# range are much easier to handle, load, pedal unpowered, than those in the 60-80 or higher pound range. edited for typos

Hey guys, I have a great suggestion for your testing of foldable E bikes! Many people find lifting heavy E bikes, difficult and the size that they fall down to is extremely important when you have a smaller vehicle or multiple foldable E bikes. In this particular test compared to your other E bikes, it would be incredibly important to people like me to know the real world weight of each bike with the battery and how compactit folds up with actual measurements. Thank you so much for reading this and understanding the needs of many buyers looking for affordable E bikes as this information is often slightly difficult to get and it should be a major factor and what makes a great E bike.

Honestly, most of these will handle light dirt riding pretty well. As long as the bike has knobby tires and a suspension fork, you should be covered. At least right now, Lectric is including a suspension seatpost on the XP 3.0, so that might be a good choice!

I want to take them on trains around europe and go bikepacking with them mainly on paved roads. I would need a bike able to hangle the weight a saddle bag for instance. The Evelo dash always gets missed. It's more expensive, but with mid drive and a belt, it's higher quality.

Your opinion, please. Jasion x-hunter folding e-bike. Would you recommend? Can’t find much info on this brand. Jasion has partnered with heybike company. As I understand it. Thank you
@ElectricBikeReport
@ElectricBikeReport 6 ай бұрын
We have not yet tested anything from this brand. It's hard to comment without knowing what brands manufacture the components on the bike (the webpage doesn't share much), but I'd say it depends on what you plan to do with it. At its price, we wouldn't expect the suspension to hold up to long-term application of some of the extreme activities shown in the promotional footage (i.e. jumping). If you're riding primarily on smoother paved surfaces, that might be a different story.

@@ElectricBikeReport no, I've been riding a super73, but I've been in the market for more of a work bike, that possibly folds, and that Engwe is definitely at the top of my list. My priority from experience is battery size, followed by dual suspension, with some potential of portability if at all possible lol. There are also a car uple 60 ah folders on the market I'm interested in as well

What is with these "tested range" with so wide a range? Does that mean you tested the range twice and one time got the low number and one time got the high number?
@ElectricBikeReport
@ElectricBikeReport 14 күн бұрын
Yes, exactly. We do one test by riding in the highest level of pedal assist (this gives minimum range) and a second using the lowest (this gives maximum range).

I am brand new to e-bikes, so hopefully this question won’t seem too dumb. They talk about how you can remove the battery to prevent theft, for instances such as when you are going into a store. So my question is this: couldn’t the person just steal the bike by simply peddling it?
@ElectricBikeReport
@ElectricBikeReport 5 ай бұрын
In most cases, yes, so it's a good idea to also use one or more locks.

The list seems very focused on heavy fat tire bikes. For me 50lbs max, closer to 40# better (Tern Vektron, Zizzo e-Forte), and ~ 2" wide tires are the sweet spot to retain the feeling that you are still riding a bike and not a beach cruiser. Once you get over 40# the number of folks that can heave these things into a trunk, RV, boat goes down rapidly.

It's true that most folding e-bikes in the American market tend to be heavy and powerful fat-tire models. Fortunately, their batteries can usually be removed to make them lighter and easier to lift, but most are still cumbersome. Hopefully we'll see more branching out with lighter bikes in the future.

Very bad experience with my lectric 3.0 first when I got it I had the battery stolen off my porch then the range that I was getting with it was only 10 to 12 miles on PAS one and then it fell out of my semi truck and hit the ground and broke in half Cracked right up the hinge. I bought a used 2.0 and absolutely loved it. Something about the components with the 3.0 just aren’t as good. I now have the rad expand five and it is the best bike by far over lectric. Long-haul trucker and I have to have a bike that folds to keep it in the cab passenger seat of my truck so I can go on rides I get in a good 50 to 75 miles a week.
